Yes, part of the upgrade is improving picture quality, as you can see with the new channels that have been added.
It's all good! :)

The improvement to the picture quality is the most welcome one! Kudos to TCL! Looks great on our Philips LCD 32" TV!

I can see Vibe and Crime and Investigation added for me today! Sigh no Alt TV yet... I can't wait to see racist comments splashed accross my television set.

I was wondering where Alt TV disappeared to...I've also noticed that the channel differ to what is listed on the TCL website (as compared to the start of this thread)

World TV (all channels) and Sky 1 (among others) are still pretty poor. But TV1-3 are much better and almost as good Freeview (though it's not a fair comparison with Freeview coming over component and TCL over s-video)

Humm... from what I saw this weekend there isn't any problem with the image quality from the DVB stream, only the quality of the TelstraClear ADB set top box's MPEG2 Decoder.  Now my wife isn't any AVI freak and we only have a 26" (or so) Sony CRT TV, but she noticed a substantial difference, especially with cartoons on channels like Playhouse Disney.  Huge difference in contrast and much less blury.  And doing a compare between TCL's DVB stream and what comes off Sky, I couldn't see any noticable difference myself.

How are TCL going to software ugprade a hardware mpeg decoder.... or does this mean we are all finally going to get a new Set Top Box this december from TCL?

It seems to me that TV3 has it over 1 & 2 by a fair margin for picture quality. Is it the same on Freeveiw? Watched James Bond on Friday and was quite impressed with the quality of the picture.

Also noticed that on the Breakfast show there is one camera (the one on the right) which looks like someone has mounted a phone camera it looks so blocky. Any idea what is going on there?
