Do we have a date that this is going to happen? Unless it is happening tonight they have missed the "by November" time line.

Well Movember is here, and I do not see any changes to the channel line up.

A quote from the TelstraClear Website:

“We’re just completing a $1.3m transmission upgrade on our network, which allows us to expand our channel capacity and optimise the picture quality. In November our InHome TV customers will have 15 great new channels to view.”

Guess we will have to wait.

Later in the same article

“We’re just completing a $1.3m transmission upgrade on our network, which allows us to expand our channel capacity and optimise the picture quality. By November our InHome TV customers will have 15 great new channels to view.”

Also from another thread Jeff from Telstra said

Our Head End and Architecture teams are planning one of the largest Head end upgrades in the last 10 years to expand our channel capacity and improve our technical capabilities in many areas including support for MPEG transmission. Picture quality improvements will also be part of this work. This is planned for phased introduction from late September 2007 to late October 2007.

Anyway what I am realy after is a reply from Telstra if they have a release date yet?

Bloke in the Courtenay Place shop said November 14th. He caveated that there could be delays - it's a big upgrade so it's hard to be firm about dates.

Hi

I can confirm that I have just been advised by the Engineering team of the plan to "fire up" the following channels and radio stations on 14th November.

Testing and bedding down is underway, so please bear with us as we implement this complex process.  All channels my not "light up" at the same time.

The second phase (date yet to be cofirmed) will deliver further channels including City TV, Triangle TV, Shine, CCTV International and Alt TV.

Picture quality improvements will follow during the first week of December.

Due to an overload within our web design teams the TelstraClear web page will not be updated immediately.

Regards

Jeff Doyle - Market Manager InHome Services

Fox News is a great 'Entertainment' channel, but the worst 'News' channel ever created.

But because of this, its still good to watch, I just won't be watching it for news as such :P

I agree completely! It'll be interesting to see what is presented as 'news', though - especially if 'Fox & Friends' (on Prime) is be a clue.

Slightly skirting around the general topic though...I know that it's unlikely, but are any of the digital channels transmitted in clear QAM?

Only  few days to go, heres hoping the quality is good enough to move the analogue box off of our main TV (40" LCD)

Unlikely since one could potentially use a tuner card and/or box and received the digital channels without paying $9.95/month for the digital upgrade.  And I don't mean steal premium channels - just to be able to even see TV1 TV2 TV3 etc. without paying for the box.
