@michaelmurfy Yep, I'm in. I've got a static IP. I do however have one issue to resolve first. Let me sort that out then I'll put in place the necessary arrangements.
Another cable outage in Island Bay tonight - 9:00pm to 10:30pm.
When I phoned VF faults I got a recorded message saying that there was a known fault in Island Bay, being worked on - an excellent idea, but the first time that I have heard such a useful message.

Yet another WKH outage tonight 9:49pm - 11.05pm
Total of 13 outages lasting >30mins in the last 4 weeks, 4 of them this week (04, 05, 09, 10 Feb).
As usual, the modem lights stayed on, and there was no response to a reboot.
Same recorded ms as last night - known problem at Island Bay.

I'm at the back of Newtown and have been having the same problems since install last year.
On Wednesday night I switched out the white Voda router for a WRT1900 router and have only had one drop since.
Prior to this it was dropping at least six times a day with the resolve being a restart of the modem.
From talking to vodafone support they're well aware of the issue and offered a free month and extra data on mobile to compensate while they solve the issue. They've been surprisingly really good.

I've tried 3 different routers with "FibreX" 200/20Mbps - Huawei HG659 (as supplied by VF), Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Lite, and Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X - they all seem much the same in terms of performance and the number of outages.
The 13 outages that I have reported here did NOT resolve with a modem reboot, and lasted 30 mins to 14 hours.

In the past three weeks, I've gotten 300 GB of mobile data because of the instability here in Island Bay. It's odd how it just spontaneously drops for a couple of hours many nights.
~10:20 pm on Feb 12. Connection has died again. :\ Switched to 4G tethering so that I can continue playing stuff with friends.
It's just midnight now. Thought I'd check to see if the connection was back yet before heading to sleep. No dice.
Island Bay, FibreX, node WKH.
As above, outage from aprx. 10:30 pm to at least 1:30am - OK by 7:30am today.
VF received multiple reports of the outage.
As usual, all modem lights stayed on, and there was no response to a reboot.
I have had outages on 4, 5, 9, 10, and 12 February.

Connection just went down at ~11:56 pm. Was playing Dark Souls 3 and had a boss down to ~5% health with some other friends. Then disconnected. Fan-freaking-tastic.
Is this grounds to terminate contract with Vodafone? They're honestly not holding up their end of the deal at this point, and the place that I'm moving to had fibre available. Really getting tempted to switch, as enticing as all the mobile data is. The connection's really been dying at some inopportune times, and it's been frustrating my flatmates too. :\
Connection went down around midnight last night, went to bed assuming it would be up again as per usual in the morning, Still not up, have phoned VF and logged issue and guess what. Apparently they haven't got issues this time with the node so have booked Downer for Thursday afternoon. Since we connected to Fibrex in December we have lost connections as mentioned in previous posts with the outages and Downers have already been here once (4 weeks ago, after the January Sunday all day outage) and found no issue at my end.
Whats the bet I am up and running again before Thursday.

"FibreX" Island Bay node WKH3
Phoned faults at 7am - was told WKH3 was down.
Back up at 8:37am ![]()
This is my sixth outage in February, each lasting 1 hour or longer.

Thanks Sideface,
yep phoned home and was back up actually not long after I first posted, interestingly I just had a phone call from Vodafone (first time) saying that Downers have got back to them and said about 50 users were down and that its up and running again.
Re. the current Island Bay "FibreX" problems:
From a Normally Reliable Source (don't ask) within VF:
"There is a permanent fix coming soon."

Oh come on! Another outage. Time just perfectly for the big final fight scene!
Now how will I find out whether the good or bad guys win!?
