Why would you persist with cable (especially with problems like this) when you have fibre available?

Chorus kept pushing the install date further and further back. It was going to take months for us to get service, opposed to getting this installed in a handful of days.

Plus, FibreX Max was a pleasure to use back in Island Bay at my old flat, and it continued to run like a charm for several weeks here. I was happy to have a cheaper, reliable gigabit offering that was installed in no-time flat.

These problems simply did not exist when this connection was installed. I thought that perhaps Vodafone had finally gotten their issues sorted with the DOCSIS 3.1/D-CMTS rollout completed. But apparently I was wrong.

I'd place your order for fibre right now then and restart the process. Is VDSL available in the interim?

If possible, I'd probably place the order now and use this in the interim, then cancel after fibre's hooked up. It would be more expensive, but also less hassle.

Great stats, Sideface! Always appreciate some TrueNet data. :)

Downloads are typically at 2.5 megabytes per hour.

I do, however, hope that this was a typo. :P

Oops - should read: 2.5 megabytes per second

EDIT   2.5MBps is typical - my fastest download ever was at  5MBps.

I think we all knew this was going to happen - and now ComCom is investigating Vodafone NZ for using "fibre" in the product naming.

I have "gigabit" FibreX, up to the last few weeks I have been satisfied with it and could reach the maximum speeds in off peak. However now I struggle to get above 500mbps and will in peak times drop to sub 50mbps and often the upload speed is twice that of the download.
I haven't talked to Vodafone about yet as I have been too busy but will soon.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

They should also investigate the product they are selling and how it isnt what they claim it is.
Of course broadband is a very loose term to use in a courtroom.

I feel sorry for you, The Krapi cable congestion thread saw a lot of grief.

Friends dont let friends join cable. Try and use the disgusting performance as a contract breaker.

I'm also on FibreX 200/20 and I consistently get 190-203/@20 speedtest results.  I am on a node in Mirimar though so maybe that is not congested.

A little scared now that I've jinxed myself now :)

Yeah mines only gone this bad in the last week or so. I'm hoping it's not congestion but then after 11ish at night it's fine so it's looking like it.

Lets hope Vodafone crawl out of the woodwork at some point soon and say something along the lines of "We lost a fibre backhaul between xyz, sorry guys we didn't tell you heres a credit for the time we ripped you off"

Back to reality, They wont and it looks like the congestion is back!

Makes me sad to see all this happen to cable. Back in the "good old days" cable was the bees knees.
