Put them in a better place (high and open). They should cover that size area. They sound obstructed as their range is actually really good They will stay separate names as it's not a mesh sysem
The main problem is that as I go out to the yard, the signal from the main unit is faint, but still enough to stay connected, so my phone won’t then connect to the ext one.
House is a 50s bungalow with many walls, so no matter where they sit, they’re going to be obstructed to some extent.
My issue is that they don’t actually extend your network as the name and advertising implies, but creates a secondary network you have to manually connect to every time you get n range. To me this just defeats the purpose of having wifi at all...
froob: I could change the name of the AP unit by logging in, but not the extender. The extenders name seemed to be locked in the configuration screen. Have you had more luck?
I've actually found that devices roam pretty well between different APs with the same SSID, although it's obviously not perfect. Constantly pulling out phones to change APs as you move around a house isn't ideal..
Yeah it's locked to always be _ex Same as a lot of off the shelf extenders. In practice having the same ssid means you can't change to the better signal if you are sticky on the poorer one in my experience
