I think you'll still be connected to the cabinet but your line will "pass through" to the exchange rather than terminate on gear in the cabinet.

I put $5 on your sync speed and line stability being rubbish (due to the mid point injection sbiddle mentions).

It will be interesting, let us know how it goes.

Alternatively, pay the $11.25 per month to keep the VFX service only, and use the land-line as a second line.

Ok Here's the update.

Vodafone ported my VFX number eventually. I had no phone for three days after WXC understandably deregistered it once the port request from Vodafone was received.

Vodafone actually gave me a new line after at first saying my phone was connected last Friday, but it didn't work. I called their helpdesk several times and got conflicting information such as that it was a fault, or a "failed install". Nobody could clearly explain what was being done about it, and when it would happen. On Monday I noticed a Visionstream / Chorus tech card in my letterbox. I called the 0800 number on it, and quoted a reference number that was also written on it. A technician came out on Tuesday morning, and connected my line correctly (no thanks to Vodafone customer service).

However it turns out they provisioned me a new line (not my previous "dormant" line over which the Fusion ADSL came), so my Xnet was lost immediately. So I cacelled my worldXchange account (no point in paying for what I can't use), and bit the bullet to put up with no internet until Vodafone would connect their ADSL service.

I spoke with Vodafone again yesterday, and they activated my ADSL last night.

Now here's the rub:

They connected me onto the Chorus DSLAM at the cabinbet. No Red network for me. I asked whay they did this when all their staff had insisted I would get Red netowrk, even though I told them about the cabinet. All they could do was explain that a connection that bypasses the cabinet is not available, so the cabinet has forced them to conenct me this way.

Nobody called to inform me that this would be the case, (and therefore that my bill would be $10 per montyh higher). I found out whilst quizzing support srtaff about when my connection would be activated. That shows just how woefully badly trained their staff are. If I had the energy I'd chase them up for Red prices on the grounds that that's what they promised me even as I told them my line runs from a cabinet.

Sheesh! For all their speed issues I'd prefer Xnet customer ser ice to Vodafne anytime! If it wasn't for my employer subsidising Vodafone services I would not stay with them.

Here ends the tale.

Yeah I'm not suprised that a connection to the exchange via the cabinet is not an option anymore.

Also not suprised at the quality of the Vodafone CSR's, they'll just be following whatever processes they've been taught and you situation didn't fit into what they "knew".
