TelstraClear decided to start from scratch and build a product which takes our customers further than mainstream Free and Pay TV in the future and is enable for the future of 2 way media. The design of this decoder is very rare in the world of Pay TV allowing full hybrid delivery options. Its a real shame Telstra don't do broadband+ TV package, there is a large percentage of us geeks who either use a mobile phone or VOIP for our calling requements why is a phoneline still required? For such an advanced future proofed product your packages are still a way's to go.

That's good to know - thanks for the info. One of the things that worried me about opening up the offer to the general public is that stock and installations would be a long way off if you didn't act quickly.

Good to know that TelstraClear has recognised the loyal customers!

They do.. just not a advertised setup.

I think the difference between a TV package with or without the phone line is just about $10

You can get a package without phone - as long as your broadband plan is above a certain amount.

I gather/expect this is a contractual requirement by Sky. Presumably to prevent TC from directly competing with Sky in the TV market.

Ordered my T-Box just now - install tomorrow. I went for the $499 upfront option as well. It looks like my monthly will end up being more or less the same as it is now. So its a bit of a no-brainer (IMO).

BTW it appears their website is wrong. The guy I spoke to confirmed that installation is free for existing customers.

Another tidbit: If you are switching from Sky, you can get 12 months of the HD Ticket free.

Just signed up now, could have had it installed tomorrow but opted for Saturday. Decided to get in early seeing as they are installing it so promptly at the moment.
Free installation was also confirmed to me over the phone which is nice. Does Mauricio gets a referral fee or something? :-) Geekzone was certainly a factor in my decision.

That is just a current promotion. Have no idea when it ends though.

Not that impressive anyway - Sky currently off free install on a 12 mth contract, plus you get Sky Sports for free until after the Commonwealth Games (assuming they occur).
