Looks pretty good from the demo.

Bit disappointed that its been advertised to the general public before all of the pre-registration people have been contacted though :(

Agree with this - registered a while back thinking I would get an early oppurtunity to pre-order or arrange dates.  To find out through public forums that it is available is dissapointing.

It seems to be such an expensive thing to me. Why do they keep it bound to the Sky service, is it really convenient to TC to resell Sky?
In Oz you can just buy the T-Box as use it as a PVR. If they offered a good catalog of on-demand content I would be just happy with that.
For people like me that have an internet connection and no phone line, it just doesn't make any sense to get it.
Plus with all those extra boxes needed the setup is nasty, and they want $200.

Thanks Guys,
you could look at it from a positive slant - in that you read about it here first ;)

Read about it via facebook and have made my order. Its being installed tomorrow morning.

Combined with plan changes taking effect Oct 1, I'm pretty happy.

I've been talking to someone has a T-Box now and he mentioned the TV3 often gets stuttering - is this something that's going to be fixed soon?

The menus look really good on the T-Box, *much* better than on the MySky HDi box. But as far as features go, the only unique feature that the T-Box has is the Favs button. That's a really useful feature, but when will all the other new features be available, e.g. ones that utilise the Digisoft or Java functionality?

So general public even get installed before pre-registrations? That's even poorer customer service :(

Telstra have arrived late to the party that started 2 years ago. it's like they missed the bus going to the party, then they missed the next one and finally got the bus that took them round the city 10 times, out to the airport overseas and back. Then got back on the bus and finally made it with the cleaner telling them to go home becuase the party finished 1 year 364 days ago.

From the looks of it, its spec'd nicely and the user inteface is well thought out the . I'm not 100% sure what the point of difference between this and mysky is.

TCL could have included a larger hard drive as a point of difference. It doesn't take too many HD recordings before you have to worrying about what recorded programs you need to delete to free up space.

I have been beta testing for a month now and have no issues with Tv3 that I have noticed. My main problem has been cricket filling it so fast.

Issues I have raised have been responded to by email by TCL staff which is great too see.

HomeMedia T-Box One-off Joining Fee $499

What is this bizzo? ^^^

Is that to own it outright? Or just prepay the rental like MySky?

Is that rental on top of this?

Plus a one off installation of $199 for non TCL customers or $99 for existing, seems a lot and especially when comparing the additional features (none) to MySky, why would anyone bother

PrePay the rental like mysky. Its only economic if you think you'll have it for longer than 33 months. its either $14.95 p/m or a one off of $499

Interestingly on the install, the dude i spoke to explicitly said that there would be no installation fee. The website states otherwise, so I am interested to see what my bill will say. Either way, i'm not fussed.

Total monthly package cost including the HD ticket is for me only $5 more than what i was paying under the old package pricing. I chose the one off fee as i'd rather not be paying $15p/m in 3/4/10 years time.

Plus, its easier to sell to the wife as "only $5 more a month babe!" Laughing
