JonC: Don't know if it'll do you any good, but check out:

This is the usual address of the web-portal of the cable-modem. All the statuses should be "Done" or "Operational". The "Signal" page also seems to show what quality signal you're getting. Not that this will really be any help to you apart from telling you either the modem has a problem or the signal quality is rubbish (my SNR is 40dB and I know this is getting me a good connection, but I don't know what is considered a bad SNR). TCL are probably the only ones who can sort those sorts of problems for you.

chiefie: To be fair, I don't think TelstraClear screwed you, they did however emailed and send letter to their customers advicing that the plans change. And they DID said if you don't act on the change, then you will stay at the plan you were/are on.
And I saw this happened to my plan, though it is as old as yours, but the plan i was on was 5GB which going on to 10GB. But I was not ready to get phone line service as part of their triple service and the drop of modem rental. Few months later, TCL released new plans for 10GB+ where you don't need phone service, so I went ahead from 5GB to 20GB with the drop of modem rental and paying the same price as was on 5GB for 4x the traffic. And now with 4MBit/2Mbit speed.
In all saying, TCL did tell every customers what is about to happen and what are your options. I know they notified us and my guess for other TCL cable customers they should receive such notification too. However it is up to the Customer's action to decide.
My hunch is that you will/may not see any refund if you are seeking any, simply because you would have told about the plan change.
Anyhow, good to hear that you are on the new plan/speed and you'll enjoy the faster download as I couldn't believe how much faster it is and just got spoilt/pampered even more with TCL's cable! :-D

New password? I don't recall you need to login or anything, it's a full internet where you put the right IP address and Gateway address and subnet mask and you're off. Though you cannot port your IP to your friend's place in another suburb to use their cable with your "account"/"connection"... I tried that and doesn't work. LOL as each suburb seems to have its own multiplex and subnet mask for that area.
