I heard, from a very strong source, that it is most likely to be: 020

Our mobile services are likely to have the prefix '020'

I said it will prolly be 023!!

021 023 025 027 029!!

Theory relaunched!

026 and 028 are both in use in NZ as well.

They ONLY have the 2 digit gap across the board if 023 gets used.

Its only true if they actually give me one. (Which they dont).

026 last I knew is the Telecom pager network and 028 I think belongs to Slingshot (something to do with voicemail on their iTalk product I think)

yep, 026 is Telecom paging, 028 is Slingshot/Callplus

Looking at the latest Number Administration Deed Orcon have been allocated the 0201 prefix.

Looking at the other ranges,

021 is all Vodafone

022 is reserved (unallocated),

023 is all TelstraClear (formally Clear allocation)

0240 is Telecom
0245 is Woosh
All other 024 are unallocated

025 is all Telecom

0260 is TeamTalk
All other 026 is Telecom

0270 is World Xchange
0272-0277 are Telecom
Other 027 are unallocated

0281 is Econet
02885-08226 is Vodafone
02887-02889 is CallPlus

029 is all TelstraClear (formally Saturn allocation)

But hey, it's good news! I remember moaning back in May, in the thread "vodafone may be regulated by the government", about how even though we have 2 mobile companies, there is a lack of MVNOs in the country which would be great competition and quite easy to implement as well as avoid alot of issues such as huge start-up capital costs!

Well, dare I say, it's finally happening? Maybe by the end of 2007, we would have quite a few mobile competitors!

Vodafone and Telecom, with their "we are big and provide the best quality and services" strategy....
Orcon with their "we are cheaper than the others and offer bundle deals".....
M2 with their "we're new in NZ and we give out lots of freebies now", and finally
Compass with "We provide a no frills, cheap-as, sell sim cards in dairies only with no flagship stores" strategy

Hey, 2007 is looking good indeed!

These new deals are not MVNO's - merely resellers. We're not going to see the benefits in NZ that MVNO's actually offer.
