Detruire:
Kyro: I've been incontact with xNet and have got a refund, I suggest the rest of you do as well.

How much did you get refunded? (Whole bill, or part thereof?)

Yeah Please explain how you got a refund.   Can they somehow tell how much data you used onpeak and give you a refund on that?

I got refunded for the internet portion of my bill, but not the phone usage and what can be estimated as the 'phone' portion of the $69.95 fusion plan.

How I did it? I complained, and explained how long this has been going on (2 months) and what I can, and cannot do with the service that they are (not) providing.

if your going to complain, dont ask for credit if you ask me,, ask for refund or partialy not paying the invoice.. when you ask for credit they will tell you that they will give you so many days worth of credit which i am not sure how they going to do that when broadband with them is paid by usage, so how they going to credit you by day, dont ask me.

I don't know what type of payment system your using, but credit is a payment to you on the next bill.
So you will see:
(numbers made up)
Phone = $23.00
Broadband = $40.00
Phone calls =  $4.00
Credit =  $40.00
Total Due: $27.00

well.. i just use their broadband, paying $40 somthing for the plan and $1 something per gig usage. so if they offer me 10 days credit, not sure how they work it out since i pay by usage. perhaps when they say 10 days credit, they would devide that by the $40 monthly? like $1.40 a day = $14 or something?

Does anyone know when Xnet's new international bandwidth will be coming online because if it's not reasonably soon then I'm definitely changing ISP's. 210KBps to LA at 9pm is just pathetic.

I must say i am more then disatisfied with Xnet's service, But trolling them wont get me anywhere im just hoping that speeds increase but if it's like this next month im switching ISP's. I think it's criminal that they still charge out full price for something that is far from full service and not offer any form of a discount\compensation. The fact that they havn't acknolged any of the forum users questions in a long time is fairly sad although i do understand them not answering every question on here othewise this would consume too much of there personal time to which i am greatful for them taking there time to actually talk with there customer's but it would be nice for some form of a update on the current situation.

Do you know what this weeks lotto numbers will be?

Who knows, xnet won't comment any further about bandwidth which seems pretty silly really considering the caning they are getting in this thread. Is there going to be any more bandwidth? If you trawl back a few pages you will see a response from the helpdesk which seems to suggest they are aware of the slow speeds but we just have to put up with it.

If it won't cause you too much grief do yourself a favour and switch ISP's.

The couple of times I've seen extra bandwidth kick in at the start of the month.  If you check my previous post, I do have a theory why it is taking so long to sort out.  Basically I think once they get more bandwidth they first have to see how much actually gets used when it is not throttled and review it for the next month.  They probably can not simply purchase double the bandwidth and not use it.  It is also not just a switch to get more bandwidth, they probably have to purchase it a month in advance.

(I wish we can complain about inefficient road design in the same way we can complain about broadband.)

Phew I'm glad I found this forum.

I was in the process of switching to xnet as I'm sick of ihug. I'm supposed to get a bill emailed to me each month and they can't even manage that but anyway I digress....

I was reading this thread about international speed issues and checked it with my current ISP and turned up some similar results to many who posted here ie about 550 kbs LA and 1900 Auckland. My question is whether it is worth switching? From what I can tell speeds may be similar although I haven't noticed any really slow downloads lately apart from you-tube which has always been fairly slow. How does the speed affect just general surfing and the odd music download on xnet?

Is it worth changing based on the no start up fee thing hoping that speed improves and service will be better? It looks like it will be cheaper and my machine can't do online gaming. I don't want to have to face reconnection fees with another ISP if it turns out to be rubbish.

any opinions.

Well it really depends when you're using the service. If you're primarily using it during the day, then you'll have a great time - the speeds are really good throughout the day. If, however, you are using the internet mainly at night, you will have a tough time. As an example, it took me around 20 minutes to completely load a 3:30 or so video on YouTube.

I'd avoid Xnet at the moment, If i was you id rather fork out the extra cash and get a decent connection with another isp check speedtest.net to see which isp is the the fastest or atleast better then what your currently reciving, i've heard snap's a good isp.

Yeah it's pretty much night time for me on weekdays Cry I get the same kind of performance as you from ihug with you-tube but I don't use it that often. normally just following links from the cycling forum - Vorb.

One of the really good things about Xnet is that there are NO connection or disconnection fees.  So, you can try it, and if you don't like it, just leave, no questions asked and no minimum term.

I have been an Xnet customer for almost 3 years now, and up until October last year, had never found the speed to be lacking at any time.  Since then though, I have found the Peaktime International speed to be pretty slow on some Xnet connections but OK on others.  It's really strange how some connections and some users don't experience any slowdown, yet others do...

For instance:

The bottom connection is FS/FS on a Static IP and always returns excellent Speedtest results to LA.  Whereas the top connection is 256kbps/128kbps on a Dynamic IP in the 118.90 range, and lately has been suffering from Rubbish international speeds at peaktime.

For general web surfing, all my Xnet connections are fine, I don't notice any problem.

HOWEVER, I must say that the speed of downloading YouTube clips on the 256k/128k connection was Piss-Poor last night and is again tonight.  Gone are the days when you could play them without buffering first.  This is the one area that the poor Peaktime International speeds causes me a problem.

It would be really nice to have it fixed one day Yell

Or it could be that Xnet gets all its bandwidth from Xtra Go Large and when it uses all it's bandwidth it gets limited to 64kbit/s :)

I too am finding it extremely difficult to use Xnet in the evenings and on weekends. I've been with them a year and have had minimal problems until now.
