It can vary significantly. I moved here a few months ago from the United States where I never had data caps to begin with, although there are some months more than others where I will use exorbitant amounts of data. I'm guessing that usually a few hundred gigabytes would cover me, although there were times (particularly in the last several days before my move) where I would heavily download off of, say, Steam. I chewed through close to a terabyte the day before I took my flight to NZ. My use isn't anywhere near as heavy now, though. Uni keeps me pretty busy!

I am in Kelburn. It was a really frustrating before Vodafone rolled out their unlimited plans since I had to use really crummy ADSL as shown for that. The signal strength was too poor for excellent speeds, and VDSL was unfortunately entirely out of the question even though this building is about a two minute walk from the exchange. I'm guessing the phone lines were routed in some weird fashion for the signals to be so poor. Nevertheless, I doubt there would be any improvements on the phone lines anytime soon, so going with Vodafone was a no-brainer. The connection quality is nothing short of superb.

Even after all those students finish filling the pipes with bittorrent feeds as well.... :-)

Got connected to cable earlier today, the line speed was as advertised ~130/10, however it has dropped to sub 20/10 during peak times. Bit of a let down to be quite honest. Latency also jumps up considerably.

After install

8:15pm Wellington

8:17pm Australia

Try using the Vodafone server in Auckland for testing consistency.

I too have peak-time issues. Down to 33Mbit at the moment. nothing else using the Cable connection.

May I ask where you are based? I am in Mt Cook, Wellington.

Retested using the VF site (Wellington server, chch and akl were around 15/10:
Last Result:
Download Speed: 32206 kbps (4025.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 9927 kbps (1240.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 16 ms

As I wasn't home the courier just left it on the front doorstep. Hope you folk at Vodafone aren't paying extra for a service which is clearly being abused so a driver can collect his delivery commission.

Not very good of the courier. They are not allowed to do that. Maybe log a complaint.

Rural delivery postie signs for EVERY courier I've ever received mail though (including when paying the "Rural Delivery" premium) and then drops the mail into my box (if it fits) or onto my (covered) doorstep... 7 years and over 250 trademe purchases, plus at least 50 IT-online stores and I've never signed once OR lost a single item either!

this is the one thing i miss from living rurally, to the point that some things i order to familys place, and pick it up.

the rural delivery guys are great.

cant say i ever paid RD though, skip the RD address and say the area instead and most computer stores dont blink twice - although a few have smarten up recently.

in a urban case though, ild expect them not to leave it.

reminds me of when i had my fritz replaced, neighbours (very nice elderly couple) accepted it on my behalf, ended up having a go at courier thinking they lost it.. wups!
