  • No cable is removed from the property. Outlets remain in-tact, they just remove the TV modem.

In my case, the installer disconnected the second cable in the grey box outside and put a terminator on the splitter.
You could ask that the cable be left connected and the terminator be installed on the indoor end, giving you the option to move the modem to the other port later.

Hi all - thanks to @sansom and his team for sorting things for us. We now have everything working. The VTV boxes and service itself has been good so far and we're pleased with that and how intuitive it is.

Sigh....So the changeover to my services are happening this week (Wednesday).

I got an email confirming my plan change last week and noticed they had applied an extra $10 discount for having a mobile on account.

The total was less than $1 difference from what we're paying now (price actually dropped a tiny bit).

BUT.. I don't have a mobile with vodafone (nor have I ever) and didn't want to start getting surprises in billing so I phoned to let them know.

We currently have Sky on the old vodafone box, with the additional entertainment package.

They offered us Ultrafast HFC plus added in our current sky package, via the new Vodafone TV box when we spoke on the phone originally.

Now, on removing the on account mobile discount they said the price is now $10 more, which is more than we're currently paying, grr!

I said I understood there was no  increases to pricing from this changeover? The woman on the phone said she couldn't help as we had the maximum $30 discount already applied to the account.

If I go the the website, it looks like I could sign up for UltraFastHFC for $63 (after unticking the on account mobile option) and from the Vodafone tv website I could get sky plus entertainment for $51.49 on its own.

which would be $114.49/month, as opposed to the $128 which I have been offered on my "special deal with the $30 discount applied" after they removed the on account mobile savings. (they had originally offered which $118.98) .

Am I missing something here? I don't want to increase the amount I am currently spending on the service. @sansom can you help?

Thanks in advance!

I saw the mobile discount item on my first quote and subsequent bills as well as the so called $30 discount but given Vodafone/Telstraclear's chaotic accounting system I assumed it was a method to make sure that the maximum amount was no more than I had been quoted in total.

As long as the total amount was no more than I had been quoted and the TV/Sky packages were correct I have left it all alone :-)

On my account

My cost for Vodafone TV plus Sky starter and entertainment is $35.65 plus GST. This includes the mobile discount although I do not have a mobile.

My Ultra HFC 1000/100  is ($93.04 - $26.09)  (the $30 discount) leaving $66.95 plus GST.

A land line is also added to this.

I see what you mean about the prices on the website. Confusing.

But regardless of how it is accounted for,  the total was the amount that was agreed and was no more that what I was paying before ( and that was a lot slower and a data cap).

Hmm.. I could (should?) have left well enough alone, but I wasn't happy with things being misrepresented.  😒

Slept on it and definitely not happy with the price after they've removed the extra $10 discount ....doesn't look like the new service comes with any fixed term contract right?

Hopefully they can sort me out, i do have fibre available as an option so I could shop around.

I was out of the contract period and remained so after they upgraded me.
Call them again and ask to speak to the Migration Team. Failing a decent outcome ask to speak to the Retentions team. Just tell them you want the best price and at least comparable with what’s on offer on the website or from Sky.

Got back to the migration team about my price going up, the immediate response was that what I was getting was better than what I had before... so I pointed out that I was holding a letter that said this would be done with "no extra cost" and that looking online it looked like I could have this setup for less than the price they were now looking to charge me.

At that point he took my account numbers (telstra and new vodafone number) and said he'd look into it and call me back. The changeover is meant to happen tomorrow so hoping that bit goes smoothly.

On the plus side, my call was answered in a reasonable timeframe and the chap was perfectly polite despite disagreeing with what the changeover letter said.

I'm guessing I wont hear back now that its after 5pm, but hopefully someone is looking at it otherwise I'll call back again tomorrow...

Hi, yes, I hope I can help.

As you stated, our dedicated team organised a price that was $1/mth cheaper than what you pay now, with the same TV packages, but with your broadband upgraded to the best ultrafast HFC unlimited broadband.

When you called back, perhaps you talked to one of our standard agents who does not have the training and knowledge to apply the same discounts available to the dedicated team?  Also, it sounds like you were part of our trial offer to swap to VTV + Sky bundled with broadband, not the more recent MySky replacement offer?

When looking at pricing on the website you may not be comparing apples with apples.  For example, the standalone Sky Entertainment package is different than the bundled Vodafone Entertainment package that also includes SoHo.  We are painfully aware that our broadband + TV plans with Sky package pricing can be very hard to understand.  This programme of work is part of our drive to simplify our Pay TV line-up.

Please DM me your account details and I can get the team to investigate and ensure you're given the best deal.

@AnotherDummy

Take all the help you can get. I had a terrible job getting mine sorted and ended up paying slightly more than I had been prior to the upgrade.
It was not worth getting upset about and I am now awaiting my next account to see what transpires. Good Luck.

An unexplained "price adjustment" - to which GST is added - in my April bill

Price Adjustment 20 Apr 1 $0.86 $0.86

Was it worth some hours of my life ringing the call center to query?

NO unless it happens every month from now on.
