If it was a local copy, then I would be getting over 6Mbps ;-)

6Mbps? Time to sell up and move closer to an exchange. Or maybe a new subdivision with fibre....

Old overhead phone lines... There are new underground cables in my road and a junction box on my boundary, but I'm not hooked up to them. Instead my line crosses the road before going underground to old cables. Telecom is slowly removing overhead lines, but not yet here where we are.

Hey Neil, it's 11:50pm and the speedtest to New York is showing at a blazing 201kbps. Just run another and its dropped to 190. This is just unreal. Are they throttling or just letting us fight it out? And how come you're getting such fast download speeds? Are you on some super plan that the rest of us don't know about? Hopefully your theory about tesing fixes is correct.

At peak time my speed to Sydney is around 1Mbps, to LA is about 5Mbps. YouTube needs some buffering. I do not do speed tests all the time, but right now Sydney is 5Mbps (off-peak). I'm on Fusion, and the only "special" bit is I've been on a static IP for about a year.

I would not bother speed testing to Wellington, everyone is watching the squid...

Niel, I am amazed at your LA peak speed. With me it is 300kbps! Even now at 10:50 am it is only 1200kbps (although the other day I got 3845kbps which nearly had me falling off my chair). Certainly looks like there are two classes of users here, but good luck to you.

I get this off-peak Hrs

In the past couple of weeks the interational speed has improved, when there was intnational speed issue what I noticed is poor QOS compair to TCNZ broadband, no complains here

Off peak isn't a problem., off peak speeds are great.

The issue is during peak hours it slows to around 90kbps to around 300kbps. It's not a hardware or exchange problem because it only happened when I switched to Xnet.

The worst thing is the total lack of any useful information or communications, all that I've been told is that they are aware of the issue. Xnet have refused to give any indication of likely resolution timeframes dispite repeated requests. Now my follow up emails are being ignored. And what are they thinking by still accepting new customers?

I don't know if this is relevant or not, but WorldxChange has introduced some new Juniper routers recently. I have no more information - dates or what exactly this will be used for.

Just ran a test to Los Angeles from our work Fusion connection with static IP and got really good results (below) but my home connection still is slow.

He he, I beat you! but youtube is still slow. Not really an issue for me as my heavy usage is during the day.

Just got 292kbps to LA.

I've had enough. I haven't posted in this thread for a couple of weeks after info from Mauricio about the possible solution in the pipeline. Unfortunately with no improvement since then, no official communication from wXc and no indication of any date when this problem may be fixed I've run out of patience.

I think it is very poor that this has been such a problem and apart from a post some time ago saying that they will not be discussing it further and info about a "possible" fix we've been left to draw our own conclusions. I think the way wXc had handled this has been pretty hopeless and they have lost a lot of customers/potential customers.

I for one won't be back.

I will spend the weekend looking at the options and change next week.

Based on what I have seen, one concusion is that they are up against a wall financially with respect to buying more bandwidth. Another is that they are waiting out some supply contract so they can negotiate a better deal with another international provider.

Who knows really. I feel stink because I have signed 2 relatives up to xnet and its so crap for them. Im thinking I should change them to slingshot and find 3 more and get the free TB of data.

Its laughable, if xnet gave away a free TB, you wouldnt be able to use it all in the year at the rates things trasnsfer at.

Well thought I'd go across the road and check out my neighbour's Xtra connection - a nice 1400kbps to LA. My Xnet returned a massive 320kbps
