amigo: I also noticed I had received a message today though the Geekzone personal mail from someone offering to sort out my installation problems. They requested my details and signed the email with only a first name and no other credentials at all.

I replied thanks, but no thanks.

This person could have been anyone, eg someone who'd ring TCL up and cancel my install as a joke.

Then again it could have all been very genuine.. just not very professionally handled though!!

I can speak very highly of TelstraClear's product, but I am consistently dumbfounded by their customer services, quality systems and processes... They've been operating for several years now...why can't they get it right??

Ohh man I have given all of the details to the person that offered me to sort out my installation.... I hope he is not going to do something bad....

You can delete the message yourself, in your profile page.

The person in question did not identify himself as TCL employee, and I did not receive a confirmation from TCL. Until it happens, the only TCL people here are AntoniosK and TelstraClear.

Hi there

So if I delete the message in my profile page, he still has my messages in his private mail anyway no, because I have sent them to his private mail.

Thank you

antoniosk:

Installation delays and slips are disappointing, and 3 months for any connection is clearly unacceptable. But errors do happen, and messages between people do get missed or misplaced. As poor as that sounds, it happens. I spent 3 years fighting hard for change at O2 to implement fantastic support for Xda, and it did take a long time to get to a reasonable position - I wish I could have moved faster and done more.

I'm understanding that delays, errors and slip-up's do happen and there are different contractors involved, but it would be nice to see someone take responsibility for some sort of pro-active follow-up process whenever there are problems on a particular installation. If I had someone from TelstraClear calling me every now and then to briefly say something like "hey, we haven't forgotten you, but I've just followed things up, unfortunately someone lost the paperwork, etc... it's all sorted now... so won't be much longer, I'll keep you informed..." then I'd be much more understanding. Instead I have to chase them up, to keep the wheels grinding away, while nobody takes responsibility to ensure that things do keep moving.

And should you really need to rant and rave on an internet forum to get an internet connection installed in a timely fashion? (vicious circle there if you didn't have access elsewhere!).

antoniosk:

If you are contacted with an offer to assist after posting frustration in the forum, it can't hurt to listen. Admitedly giving out any info to someone you can't identify is risky, so not sure how to handle this conundrum...

Its quite simple...the person from TelstraClear offering to help needs only to provide a name/position and a phone number when they email you. The person who contacted me has since provided me with these and I'll be taking up his offer if I still don't have internet at home on Friday morning as promised. :)

Oh and I do care too... I want to see TelstraClear get things right so they flourish as a good competitor in the market. I've been a customer with them for about 7 years and I have consistently experienced poor customer service. Which is sad as they have great products at a competitive price, which is the only reason why I've not just given up and gone to the competition.

Hi amigo

I agree you shouldn't need to go into a public forum to get attention. But sometimes it helps (remember the bird in Howick who couldn't get ADSL from Telecom?).

I hope you get in contact with the right folk and give them a what-fer to get your install going...

And it's a great place to let out your frustrations!!! grrrrrrrrrr!

I didn't know about that case you mentioned above, but I sure am glad I'm not that lady who was on "Nailed Busted Sorted" last night... 2 and a half year battle before going public to get a disconnection sorted in which TelstraClear's had continuously screwed up and ended black listing her on Baycorp so she couldn't get credit anywhere since. Hopping on primetime TV the problem was sorted immediately.
