Yes, it is all possible. I'd want to phase out the TCL number & get all your customers back calling on the old Telecom number. I think if it were me in this situation I would get an extra VFX line & port the TCL number onto it. I would answer it for a while & tell each caller that the line is being closed & they should use the Telecom number next time they call. Then after a period you could just leave it being answered by a recording announcing the new number. With VFX voice mail you can give people the option of being transfered when they press 0. So you could leave an announcemnet that says something like 'Thanks for calling bla bla, the number you have dialed is no longer in use. The new number is XXX-XXXX, you can be connected to the new number by pressing zero now.' Then you can just repeat it several times (using copy & paste in a audio editing application). VFX has an 'Intercept User' function that you might be able to use here, but I can't figure out how to configure it.

I had to change my business number once & it took me about 3 years to completely phase out the old number.

I's a Network Only function where we can put in a redirection Number on a VFX line, ie in case of Emergency , we can put in a New Number and a transfer on 0 option as well as default announcemet or a personalised one.

Thanks Andy and Phil, over the next few weeks or so, I will tell people to use the old (Telecom) numbers again. Then perhaps a month or so, I will port one number over to VFX for trial and see how it goes.

Looking forward to see the Fax2Email become available but I'm in no hurry yet. :-D

Cheers guys.

So, did you do it???

When I switched over, I was VERY clear with TCL what I was doing - I wasn't closing the internet, just the phone. They got it right - to their credit.

As for the cost, I was paying - I think - $99 for phone + internet (4/2 @ 20gb), then just internet with TCL was $69 + free for the phone with VFX. ($11 now). Well cheaper. And a lot better.

Call quality for VFX is fantastic, even on a crappy US internet connection. Very impressed. I know you have a load of cellphones around, so 111 calls are not an issue for you - so that gets rid of the only reason I'd say "dont do it" (or "think about it")

:)

So, if you switched - how did it go?
