Experiencing this issue now.
Struggling to get DNS with almost anything in Australia (tenplay.com.au, geekzone, whirlpool) and also apple app updates wouldn't work. Apple iMessage broke too.
Switching wifi off resulted in everything working fine over TNZ 4G.

Changing DNS from ex-TCL to Vodafone as above didn't help.

Yes, I have also had to temporarily change my DNS setting to something other than the TCL/Voda ones as certain sites just refuse to load - like the NZ Herald!.   A bit bloody slack Vodafone - please get it sorted and how about a little bit of customer communications.

djpaubes: Hey Guys,

So I think I'm using the old paradise DNS?

203.96.152.4

203.96.152.12

Do I assume correct?

Cheers,

Correct. These aren't to be used on cable.

There is a sticky called "TelstraClear DNS" at the top of this forum. Perhaps its title should be updated to be "Vodafone DNS" or "Vodafone Cable DNS" and references to "TelstraClear" in the posts updated to "Vodafone". This may help clarify which DNS addresses to use for Vodafone Cable - when the issues are fixed.

Have been thinking about swapping my VF ADSL for cable, but this puts me off a bit. My ADSL is just so solid...

This problem has been recurring for several years with NO solution in sight and very little commentary from all the VF fanboys. This would be VF cables single largest issue..so roll on/out UFB !!!

Not the same problem, separate things: the transparent proxy getting stuffed every few weeks/months is recurring, the DNS problem discussed here is a first.

About twice a month I can't get to geekzone but other people can because I can see the posts made while I got nothing.

It happened again this morning at about 10am.

[Edit: I posted this at about 11am so the timestamp is out by nearly an hour. Issue has already been raised at Forums › Geekzone › Geekzone Outage (20/6/14) - Time stamps now 1 hr out]

Around 10am we stopped the VMs to create a checkpoint before moving a database file to another drive. Nothing to do with Vodafone on this one folks...

I've been on cable for years and have been using the DNS servers 203.97.33.14 and 203.97.37.14 and they seem pretty good.

I remember years ago I had an outage because rats were chewing the cables.  Good times. :-)

I just moved back to cable today and the installer told me to use 203.96.152.4 and 203.96.152.12. Looking at this thread it seems they are not right?

I am experiencing the issues that folks are reporting in this thread. Sites that don't resolve the first time and require trying again, CSS not loading etc.  While speedtest shows the speed is much faster than the VDSL I replaced, having poor DNS resolution in really annoying.

Should I be using 203.97.78.43 and 203.97.78.44?

PS

At least the transparent proxy isn't breaking Unblock anymore which is nice.

It is not right. Vodafone still not training installers.

Yes.

With this many people affected in such a small sample size the monitoring on these DNS servers will surely be lighting up. Can get quite a bit of info via SNMP like number of failed queried, queries for invalid domains, and of course response time.
