Dont understand, whats misconfig. If you run CMD then just run ipconfig it should show you a summary of all your interfaces. If you are saying they are not showing anything (or the media is not connected) then might I suggest that either the Belkin or your Ethernet port is not doing a DHCP properly, if thats the case then setup a fixed IP as suggested above.

You should be able to configure your ethernet cable with the dynaliink still on line, then change modems over.

I did all you suggested. Did connect then powered down to see if I would have the same problem. Turned it on and no connection again. Should those new numbers I put in show up on my status on their site under Lan Settings or Internet Settings.

I dont quite understand where you mean, however, you need to go into Network Connections, select the Local Area Connections (the one that sets the settings for the ethernet port), and select Internet Protocol, and select properties, currrently this should be set for Obtain Address Automatically, you need to change that to fixed and use the values I noted previous.

You dont need to do anything to the Belkin router. Once those changes have been made, if you run ipconfig you should see the LAN adaptor and it should have the details you have just entered. With XP you dont need to reboot.

Hi Cyril
I did do all that. Yesterday I couldn't get back to you as Paradise had problems with PDQ - could connect but there was no data transfer.  Today I have tried my wireless again - I can connect and read emails but can't connect with Internet Explorer.  I keep saying to myself I will leave it until someone can come and do it for me - but these things 'gnaw' away at you don't they!

Email and internet both working well now. Thank you to everyone who has helped me - much appreciated. Now to set up the wireless adaptor!
