johnr:ajw: I have signed up to emailed invoices in my profile but no email arrives to inform me a bill has arrived and for the second month in a row they have cocked up the billing figure. Vodafone is getting worse.
Have you called and spoken about this? DM some details and I can get it checked out

Have just sorted this out with a philipino operator.

Lets clear one thing up not all staff are based overseas! I had to call last week for a move and it was handled very well and this staff member was based overseas

As I said was sorted out with the overseas operator 30 minutes ago.
nate:johnr: If your bill was $600 it would not then be 21%
It be fixed is what has been perplexed. Surely it should be % based?

It's not just covering costs. It's a disincentive (penalty) for paying late. Nothing wrong with it IMO. You get at least a fortnight to pay the bill after all.
mrtoken: It comes down to paying your bill on time.
If you have a bill then pay it, if you can't pay it on time ring the company and talk to them otherwise if you keep doing it then maybe you should not have the service.
I don't really think under $20 is that much for a fee, after all you have to put systems in place, have staff look after them etc. Would suck however if you bill was only $40 a month and you get hit with it.
If it was me I would have made it 10% of bill or $15 whichever is the largest out of the 2.

My professional experience shows a large percentage of our society cannot pay a bill with in two weeks and $20 is a hit on the food etc budget.

It is sad it has got to that point, I know I use to be the same and got sick of it.
I guess it comes down to what people judge as important, paying for the services/bills or Putting things on credit (hp, credit cards etc) and booking up more debt.
MikeB4:
Organisations like VF could go down the positive path like offering early payment discount like many of the power companies. Its an incentive to drip feed through AP an average amount.

But a prompt payment discount is just a another word for someone having late fees.
Lets say both your power and Vodafone bill is due on the 1st and prompt payment discount from power is $17.50
Vodafone Example.
Bill = $100 if you pay by your billing date
Bill after the 1st $117.50 ($17.5 late fee)
Power Company
Bill if paid by the 1st = $100 (Includes Prompt Payment Discount)
Bill if paid after the 1st = $117.50 (No Late fee applied)
f
MikeB4:
Power Co's dont add % to the cost of product used they apply a time bombed discount there is a difference, a positive difference and good marketing
