No, I'd go ADSL or wireless (if I really had to). I've heard enough horror stories about cable now to put me off for life.

 

A pity, as cable used to be the bomb (back in the early-to-late 2000's).

I feel even worse, I just signed up for another year for $85 pm and no credit, down from $95pm. But being Vodafone the first bill was for $115!

If Vodafone wants me back I'm willing. MyRepublic finally got my fibre going after 10+ months but I can't get to any devices outside my LAN because of CG-NAT (sound right?) which is really hurting. And the gigabit connection promised is capping out at 350mb/s.

 

@Jogre I really wish people would read feedback on forums regarding ISP's ;). Open up a new thread as it sounds like it is something else here.

There aren't many places like that are there though? I know where the cable network was laid (remember, I used to work at TCL) and I don't know of any places where there's cable available but 0 wireless/mobile coverage. Pegasus might be a case in point however. Anyway it's a moot point because I doubt I'll be moving to Wellington or Christchurch in the near future.

My workmate is really happy with his vodafone fibre connection he hasn't lived through FibreX like you or I but always says good things about his connection.

 

I am not happy with Vodafone's website pushing FibreX as the best option for me as I have true fibre avaialable. So many easy positive steps I think Vodafone could take to make their service top notch again but we will see if they have any new ideas in the near future.

 

 

 

 

Hi Mike - from what I have seen so far Vodafone TV is an outstanding product. It's still slightly annoying that you have to have a direct internet connection or use wifi extenders, but the team are onto addressing this in the near future. Even with this - I'd go for it, even if it's just a "happy wife, happy life" approach which I can also recommend!

Just remember you cant have 1gig + TV, which is a real real shame. 

 

 

 

 

absolutely Antonio. I'd much rather us focus on looking after our existing customers who have been loyal to us than have to win them back again in 12 months time!

Well Vodafone seem to be making it easier to leave their broadband service.

First they got rid of email service and now they are cancelling the web hosting service which I've had for 8 years.

Just makes it easier to swap providers..

The need for WiFi extenders are not mentioned anywhere in the "Important things to know" and nor do the customer service staff mention it up front.

 

I'm a long time customer who reluctantly agreed to switch to FibreX - I'd rather have UFB - but I was told that I could keep my T-Box with all our recordings. That swung it for us.

 

The next day I was told I had to return my T-Box and get Vodafone TV.  I very reluctantly agreed after a couple of weeks of advising times to call but not being called back.

 

Only then was I told that I would have to pay $170 for WiFi extenders to get to my TV in a different room. I totally disagreed because WiFi bandwidth is a scarce commodity when many neighbours are sharing the same radio space. I've now returned the T-Box and I'm not a happy customer.

@JasonParis - are you looking at bringing the phone customer service team back to NZ rather than the Philippines? That is one thing that could possibly sway me to move some services over to Vodafone.
