cyril7:

Good news, whatever fix @gaddman has sounds good, and hopefully soon pushed out to all other nodes, as there is no shortage of unhappy campers in the Voda DOCSIS3.1 space.

Great news...

now how do I get the same?

Stokes valley, lower Hutt.
Had one the other day, nothing last night but didn't really use the net much last night.

Will try and crash tonight when I get home.

Thanks, PM me your account number, I'll check if you're on one of the nodes that got the update.

Sorry...had been a bit quiet.

In general I haven't noticed any major outages like I was having. However Pingplotter picked up the following times where it's seen drops:

19/07/2019 9:12:16 PM
20/07/2019 3:33:50 PM
24/07/2019 11:02:04 PM

Prior to the recorded values I tended to notice the drops in the evening but it's highly likely that I'm using it more at that time anyway.

Interested in the technical details of the fix if they are available @gaddman

Cheers

I'm also interested in the details of the fix @gaddman.

It's been about 24 hours since my last post and looking at the last 24 hours of Ping Plotter I haven't had the dreaded 2 minute dropout. I tried twice, again today, to get it to drop out but it remained connected.

This shows the last 24 hours worth of logging in Ping Plotter. You can see there's no dropout to Hop 2 (203.118.185.254). There are a couple of very short blips due to packet loss, but no dropouts lasting 2 minutes which is great.

Also (and this is anecdotal as I didn't take records) I feel like my average speed tests are better again.

Will continue to monitor for a while as I've had this issue for so long, I'm not completely confident it's been resolved, but I'm now quietly optimistic it may have been fixed.

And why is it not rolled out to all nodes, or is it only just emerging from test.

Bit of a tweak to how the DCMTS responds to certain network/cable modem conditions.

Yeah, we wanted to try it on a few nodes first. It's rolled out across the network now (as of Friday night).

Good to hear, thanks for the update.

Seems all good here, I've had no dropouts this weekend.
And I've been trying to kill it. :)

Thanks :)

That's great @dodgernzl. I haven't had any of the 2 minute drops for the rest of the weekend.

Appreciate what @gaddman did and how quickly he got in touch, but it's still rather disappointing that I couldn't get this sorted via the proper channels in a timely manner. The helpdesk need more people like gaddman but I guess that's just the way it is with outsourcing the call centre. The whole experience has really put me off Voda. Really don't want that sort of experience with the helpdesk again should another issue occur.

I'll do some searching of my own, but anyone have a link to a good thread with ISP customer service reviews. May be time for change anyway. I hear 2degrees has a good service and the customer support is good.

Just had an outage.

Had to reboot Router and Modem.  Not sure if its related to the others, or just a random outage.

Logging here "In Case"
