Thanks - I am on an iPhone 12 Pro, so single SIM slot plus eSIM capability. Alas no second physical SIM.

I think I have been with Vodafone for 14 years (as has Mrs B, and the kids for the last 2-5 years) - the others would be better jumping ship to an eSIM provider before we go I suspect.

@bendud VodafoneNZ / One lauching eSIM has zero to do with how long you have been with them!

As advised it is coming and some customers are already trialing it

Agree, it is irrelevant - just a comment implying that inertia (sticking with the same provider because of the faff of changing) doesn't always work out.

@bendud - when are you heading on your trip?

Which reminds me - years ago (lol) Vodafone had a page (lol) where you could enter your email address to register your interest in hearing eSIM progress updates. (lol !!)

Has anyone here ever received an email as a result of that page? (still lol)

Monday 14th... so not an easy time frame! I have queried the roaming charges overseas from Vodafone but as yet not heard back (to be fair that's probably at this end rather than Voda).

Hmm, yes I agree that isn't an easy time frame 😞

I've done a quick bit of research, it looks like there are some European (but work in the UK) travel-oriented PAYG options that use eSIM - for example this one from French telco Orange. Depending on your expected usage that may be better value than our $8 Daily Roaming... and calls to a European number might be more palatable for your parents 😅

Officially back on topic: I can neither confirm nor deny if an eSIM update has come across my desk today...

Thanks - interesting! All the UK PAYG SIMs are physical; eSIMs are available on contract only. The Orange ones are only 14 day duration, sadly.

Looks like I'm carrying two phones...

I came across this the other day: https://www.esim.net. It looks like it might suit your needs.

That's really good - thanks for the detective work. I hadn't come across that one in my googling but looks to fit the bill well.

Much appreciated

Part of the reason the launch has taken so long is the de-coupling from the Vodafone Group. This has taken up a lot of that teams time, as well as required them to roll their own eSIM solution from scratch (as opposed to just latching onto the Group one). Hopefully the transition to One and de-merger from the Group will remove some of the hamstringing and allow One to be more nimble.

Any idea how far away is the launch on phones? VF have stated on multiple occasions that it would be before Xmas and I assume a network Xmas brownout starts by mid-Dec so that realistically only leaves this week plus three more.

I'm excited too for my Samsung Watch but I'm afraid wearables won't be available until next year at the earliest.
