slowly coming right at around 10:30

"Ping Monitor" Gadget shows about 10 minutes of 5 second pings to northnet.net.nz

Max 105mS, Average 47, errors 2, current ping 47mS. I think the max is from the whole time the gadget has been running.

BTW Gadget is free and can trend up to 5 hosts. Called "Ping Monitor". working here on Win7 64 bit. Poor substitute for Pingplotter pro but thats a couple of hundred bucks!

settled down at some stage 6pm getting on average 67ms to www.google.co.nz

wouldn't mind 40ms :) since y'all looking at it

Creeping up again.

1 hour up to 20:30

700 x 5 second pings. Blue are pings, red is average. (drops to zero are no replies)

1 hour from same 19:30 to 20:30 21/5/11 as comparison. (around 50mS pings)

Pings over 130 to on3 servers whereas i normally get 30ms~

Latency came down to usual levels over about 10 minutes 22:35 to 22:45
Apologies for the lack of proper scales on the graphs. My Pingplotter pro trial licence has ended. using free Ping Monitor Gadget & WinPing App.

10 minute ping graph 22:35 - 22:45 current ping 48mS

3.75 hours 19:30 to 23:20
2735 x 5 second pings Blue is ping, red is average.

The past couple of days my speed is great, at peak time it is virtually the same as off-peak, just under 8Mbps at 3.5km from the exchange. Connection speed and attenuation is the same it's been for years. But, ping is 10ms. This happened only in the last couple of days.

Perhaps a coincidence, perhaps the reason: we got fibre installed to the node and I think the cabinet got upgraded to Whisper. Their just finishing off the digging, about to concrete the footpath. But I thought there would be longer testing. And my stats are the same as always, just the ping is very low and the speed is uncongested (both national and international).

So either it is the XNet changes, or it is my cabinet, but your ping issue does not seem to be widespread.

Where abouts in the country are you Neil?
I'm in Taranaki and have never had any ping better than about 45mS Ever, when eveything is working normally, it sits at around 50mS.

Cameron, Maverick, how do I get sub 10mS latency in my neck of the woods? (New Plymouth) PPPoE on EUBA ?
My Linksys Wag54Gp2 supports "RFC2516 PPPoE" Encapsulation, When my new Islam is fully enabled for ADSL2+ should I be switching?

Hi Allen,

Interleaving off will drop your ping, but it could introduce CRC errors & packet loss - not something you want with the VFX service. We could give it a try though, 24 hours to turn it off, 24 hours to turn it back on if required.

No change to PPPoA RFC2364 is required when your service changes to ADSL2+, I'll see if I can get an update from Wholesale on that - shouldn't be too much longer.

I'm investigating latency issues at the moment, some of which could be related to local node congestion. However I don't think that's the case with your node Allen as your latency only jumped again recently.

Hmm, looks like my pings have jumped. Maybe my interleave has been turn back on. Normally 10-15ms during the day. Will PM Cameron.

Pakuranga, Auckland. I'm 3.5km from the exchange. All my modem stats are exactly as they've always been. Just checked again, first test I got 25ms which might have had a glitch from other stuff also running, retest is 10ms. This is using the XNet speed test.

Note "S" is Siemens (inverse of resistance), "s" is seconds.

(Edited a spelling mistake.)
