Zeon: Yea I think Xnet needs to re-evaluate their pricing a bit considering the others in the market. I like their model of pay as you use but couldn't resist switching about 6 months back to Orcon due the pricing difference. I'd like to switch back to Xnet but it doesn't stack up currently with the pricing.

However, this penalty is currently not in force and is not expected to be before 2013. It can come into force at any time in the future if the Government decides that it should.

As someone familiar with the law and the systems affected in a large ISP, It's my personal belief that implementing this will create a lot of issues that there's no appetite to solve, from political, business, privacy or technical viewpoints.

I don't think it's dumb luck this wasn't enacted.

I agree, I have been a loyal customer for coming up to 4 years through thick and thin, but WxC are simply no longer competitive for my requirements

Currently I have TCNZ POTS and Xnet River [FS/128] but I really need to go FS/FS. To get FS/FS and 10GB is going to cost $52.75+$41.60 for a total of $94.35 to stay with WxC compare the same combo from: TCNZ homelite $82, SNAP $85 or Orcon $90 for a potential difference of $136.2 per annum. I have just changed electricity suppliers to save a similar amount !

People here talk about service which I agree is very good but I woudn't have needed it on most occassions if WxC hadn't had the issues they have had over the years

I'd like to stay but I am not willing to pay the premium. I'll give them some time to see if the rumored pricing changes come if not I'm off

And I'd have to buy at a minimum a Linksys SPA2102 Voice Adapter at $114. At this stage I am happy to have POTS [useful in an Earthquake since it doesn't use mains power] and I'm waiting on VFX CPE that is IPv6 ready and cost effective

You could always look at something like a Fritz! box 7390 with Fritz! phone. Beats the Genius hands down and will give you VDSL2 support if you're within a coverage area.

"Cost effectitive" is a subjective thing, but with it's features I think the price is reasonable.

yeah I suppose it comes down to who Xnet are targeting with their product sets; because currently Fusion is not competitive for a standard user who just wants a phone and internet (ie someone who doesn't necessarily want to setup/manage their own phone system etc).

We know Xnet has great support, we know that Xnet offers VFX (for those wanting to manage their own phone setup), we know that Xnet has pay per GB; but for users who just want the core products of a phone and the internet the cards are not stacking favourably.

They are not advertising anywhere except maybe a poster in PB Technologies. They can't be targeting normal users.

This is because they tend to operate through their dealer channel.

Probably a good opportunity for a switched on WxC dealer to come up with a package similar to Orcon's Genius offerings - make it simple for the average punter.

I do think WxC's weakness is the massive amounts of paperwork that are required for new accounts. It really needs to be quick and simple, like (dare I mention their name) 2Talk's.

Yes its somewhat surprising the first time you login to the dealer portal and realise its nothing but PDF's.

This has been a bugbear of mine since we were a dealer (around three years ago) - WxC has developed good, reliable systems for VoIP, with clever guys to support it, however their sales and signup processes are so antiquated!

As a new user, I should be able to sign up online, register a credit card, and get my new phone number and account details right then and there.

As a dealer, I should be able to provision new clients, and add/edit/delete their services from a secure portal.

Surely all this would help cut down their administration costs?

Now I live in area, where Xnet is only provider. Before I could download with Slingshot 90Gb per month and pay $95 for Interner and phone line. Now I can't afford this with Xnet price and I can't change provider!
