Phexx: I think that, although the title of the webpage suggests that Vodafone are solely talking about applications, people assume that free next to something means that it truly is free to use.

Admittedly, when reading the first post I think the same as Tim, the apps would have free data usage. I think that Vodafone NZ did not say anything false, but were not clear as to what was actually free. If they removed the free next to the app, it would make things much more clear.

you are absolutely right.

Furthermore, they really need to be clear that the free modem they give with broadband requires power which is not free.

Same goes for free mobile phones.  They need to clearly spell out that the free phone does not include unlimited free data, minutes and txts, and does not also grant unlimited free power to recharge the battery.

sheesh.

OK, point taken, but putting free next to the name was still unnecessary.

I think its also cheeky of vodafone to give these apps away as free (apart from the vodafone app)

They already free from the itunes store. Vodafone should not be taking credit for them.

They're not giving them away or taking credit for them at all. It is just them saying "our pick of iOS apps, some of them are free". It has nothing to do with Vodafone taking credit for them being free.

Let's just face it - some people need to have a little sign hung around their neck warning others that are about to attempt a conversation with them!

I'm sorry, but if people can't take things in context their is no helping them, short of putting a disclaimer next to everything you write, which I'm sure they still don't read. Heck, most people don't even read contracts that they are about to sign, or if they do, don't question what they don't understand!

+1, PC madness has engulfed us all... How about we introduce an IQ test requirement for those looking to purchase a service? Anything less than 150 and you're out of luck!

I agree with johnr and other's, that section of the page is only misleading if you choose to ignore the rest of the page around it.
