originalGeorge: Is anyone else' browsing speed kind of slow? I joined Telstra after being with Telecom for my whole life. I never had a problem with them, just heard Telstra was so much faster. Now the downloading is alot faster, (around 200 kb/s faster), but the general overall browsing seems really slow. Sites time out all the time, and it doesn't seem all what it says it is.

I'm a firm believer in the old saying "if it aint broke then don't fix it"

freitasm: The table timeout is something between 10 and 15 minutes.

This is no longer the case, and you're able to have up to 10 simultaneous MAC Addresses at any one time.
This has been in place for quite some time now, due to the number of issues customers were having swapping between CPE's.

This must be really recent development.

It can't be because when I had the DOCSIS3 modem installed here we had (myself and the two TCL people) to keep calling to have things reset. We were trying to test some speeds, router configurations, etc and moving between router, my laptop, his laptop, and back was causing a lot of trouble.

Okay now when my computer is plugged directly into the modem, it doesn't seem to be that bad. But it sucks with my Belkin router. Why did my telstraclear account manager tell me to get a Belkin one?!

What's is "not that bad"? Normal expected speeds?

What's your LAN like? How many computers? All connected directly to the router? How many running P2P software with active connections? Is the firewall in the router active?

Well you're not running a mainstream product ;)

Up to 10 simultaneous CPE's for all the mainstream products has been in for a good couple of years now.

Certainly wasn't the case when I swapped between 2 different devices for testing over the weekend. I had to use MAC cloning as I swapped between devices for testing, and then wait for ~15 mins for the ARP table to refresh when I decided to leave a new router on my connection permanently and didn't want to leave MAC cloning on.

Hmm, interesting -- I stand half corrected.
The 10 CPE thing was around for 2-3 years, however has changed in the last few months due to changed network elements. I've not been involved in that area for some time so was a bit off the ball. Wonder if that'll come back.
