ZollyMonsta: You don’t migrate to Sky. You continue to pay via credit card at vtv.nz

Migration to Sky billing was only for customers paying for Vodafone TV on their Vodafone bill (bundled)

So what does happen to us paying VTV directly by credit card? I'd been getting the emails as well, saying that the billing will be taken over by SkyTV.

I was wondering exactly the same.

I may be completely off the mark, but maybe Sky have taken over the management of the credit card payments on the vtv website, so while it looks like Vodafone is still taking the payment, it's actually being done by Sky?

I assume it'll change sometime between now and the point when the Vodafone service shuts done and is replaced by a Sky box. Sky will ultimately want the billing to be managed in the same way for all customers.

I am keen to know this as well. Hopefully we will still have the opportunity to subscribe and cancel without any form of contact over the 1 month subscription - otherwise this is another change and adds further weight to a CGA issue and full refund of the purchase price. This was the main reason I got the device (Access to Sky channels for only 1 month at a time).

Thanks for that! 😃

I also pay for VTV separately via monthly credit card direct debit and I'd been wondering why I hadn't hard from Sky since emails from VTV specifically mentioned that.

Looking forward to seeing what happens in the next few months.

The refund form is now up it seems: https://vtv.nz

Got $250 for my 3, $150 for the parents 2. All up not bad considering I paid $99 for each box.

It looks like you need to send them back to Vodafone for recycling so hopefully they're doing this in a responsible way.

The STB's are being sent to https://www.abilities.co.nz/ for recycling.

@michaelmurfy ... if one accepts the offer, does that effectively cancel the registration, or can the device still be used up 'till the September cut-off date?

The email from VF says: “Your VodafoneTV will continue to work until the service closes even through you’ve been paid your reimbursement.”

What if we want to keep it as I think at least the Bluetooth remote can be reused. Seems such a waste to not reuse it. Or is there a requirement to send it back if you accept the refund?

In mid-2022 Sky will be in touch about a new internet-connected Sky Box delivering the ultimate sports and entertainment experience, including all your favourite streaming apps.

So this will mean new sky box coming mid 2022??

The email from VF says: “We do need you to return your VodafoneTV for recycling and we’ve made it super easy. As we now own the box, we need you to return it when you’re ready. Simply fill in the form on our recycling page and we’ll send you a pre-paid return courier bag. Just pop your VodafoneTV inside, send it off and we’ll do the rest.”

However it’s hard to see whether or how they can/will enforce this. Sounds a bit vague and is possibly virtue-signalling. Perhaps “… when you’re ready” could be in five years time.

I received an email a short time ago advising my refund amount and asking me to login and claim it.  Done without too much hassle.

The ‘return for recycling’ requirement is far from clear. In the para I quoted above, VF say they own the gear (once they’ve paid your reimbursement). However I don’t recall seeing anything on relinquishing ownership and agreeing to that when I arranged our reimbursement just now - but I may have missed it.

Despite that, on their FAQ page re VTV closure, VF say: “… as soon as you have found an alternative solution you can stop using VodafoneTV and ideally recycle the device or dispose of it responsibly using our recycling programme.” (My emphasis).

That doesn’t sound compulsory to me.
