DjShadow:
Something else that will need to be addressed are the radio channels on the cable tv version of this. I’m at my parents place at the moment and they listen to RNZ National, I hear the announcers say where the station is available and they always mention Vodafone Cable TV. I’m thinking for those who get the new box where there are currently no radio channels that I could see and would be expecting the likes of RNZ National to be there. Of course the other option is to get iHeartRadio fully working.
On the Vodafone TV Gen2 Set Top Box you can search for RNZ in Iheart Radio and you will see it there.

There is a problem with the iheart app noted several pages back that it doesn't work with NZ stations currently (even with seeing them there)

It appears to work for me although I grant you it took about 4 minutes waiting for the sound to come up.

May have nothing to do with update, but noticed over half of Sky 5 has "No Information". Wouldn't be good for a Sky Subscriber.
Also some programs on ESPN and other Sport programs same description. So can't be recorded or catched up on.
Hope for Sky people the No Information is a bug and not deliberate. I'll have another look tomorrow night.
The MySky box is showing the guide for Sky 5 etc fine, with no missing programs.
Also in the update, I've only done it from a restart program, it just shows the picture that was on screen when started fast forwarding, the same picture just stays there until hit play.

After having to pull the plug to get the unit to switch on, its just picked up a firmware upgrade which I assume is the Beta.
Will see how this goes
Correct, just rolled it (just to those who DMd me).
Hi, just a quick question, have you rolled it to all that DM you or will we get it over night as have not received it yet.
Thanks
Graham
@Smithy47 Go into the menu and check for updates!
@Linux @sansom I was going to the menu and checking for updates but not there as had sent a DM. Checked again this morning again after another power off to boot, but no luck. Could be a roll out problem as on a different network, not sure.
Cheers

Hi, @IvanPiacun, you do realise that for point 1 that cannot be fixed, this issue is just the way DD and its latter variants work, you cannot attenuate the DD stream from the source device, only in your amplifier post decoding.
All products work this way (unless I have missed something having been invented in the years since the introduction of DD).

IvanPiacun: Yesterday I updated my Vodafone Gen2 Set Top Box to UI Version 51.5711 on an early release courtesy of @Sansom
These are the results of some early testing I have done:
1. I still need to use the Stereo Audio Setting to be able to control volume with the Vodafone remote. Dolby still only gives a fixed volume.
That is normal as it will be outputting a bitstream, not doing the decode. They should do like apple TV and have the volume commands pass out over HDMI to the connected reciever.

Hi this programme (Sunday, 6pm, SkySport2) appears to be recordable?

According to https://www.dolby.com/us/en/technologies/a-guide-to-dolby-metadata.pdf ;
"Many Dolby Digital decoders offer the consumer the option of defeating the Dynamic Range Control metadata, but some do not. Decoders with six discrete channel outputs (full 5.1-channel capability) typically offer this option. Decoders with stereo, mono, or RF-remodulated outputs, such as those found on DVD players and set-top boxes, often do not. In these cases, the decoder automatically applies the most appropriate DRC metadata for the decoder’s operating mode."
I am hoping because this is a Linux box with access to full 5.1 channel capability that volume control by way of the remote for the Dolby setting can be implemented.

Hi, just found that you haven't received the OTA update: it appears there was a major systems failure (which is code for I missed adding your DM request to the list! Apologies!) Will send through now and see if we can get it done over the weekend, otherwise Monday.

It's the program on Prime, as I do not have Sky Sport, that I wished to record, which does not appear to have the recordable status in the guide.

I think you have missed the point, the STB (Sky, VodaTV etal and to my knowledge all BD/DVD players) cannot manipulate the level in a manner to achieve a volume control. DRC is a totally seperate issue, but to adjust the level in the decoder before an anolog stage would require full decode, then level adjust, then recode, the end result would be a mess as the available dynamic range of the electronics would be compromised.
Cyril
Edit, to achieve what you are after would also require a complete DD encode chain, this is simply not an option, its a fair bit of electonics and DSP to achieve that, and would expect involve significant licencing issues. The link you provide above clearly explains that you need full 6ch analog decoded output to achieve level control at the STB/BD/DVD player, you may remember in the early days of DVD players you could get some models with full decoders onboard and 6 discrete output analog channels, that is long gone.
