DonGould:

Getting way off topic... but we've had this conversation and I'm still waiting to hear how anyone else is going to get me a decent service here?

Who cares about you, I was more talking about the OP Tongue Out

Like the Guns n' Roses song you'll have to have have Patience and wait for UFB and/or Vodafone to take over TCL.

Ragnor:  I would challenge them to go further and learn how to register their own domains, setup dns records and choose an email provider but most people don't like learning new things and are lazy.

Agreed.

Given you can do it for less than $10 a month, and have a web site at the same time, it means that the users aren't tied to their provider at all.

Year on year, the best way to get better value seems clearly to move providers.... but that's getting just a bit off topic.

Its $10 a year for a .com domain via google apps when I last set a few up for people.

IMO anyone using email for more than emailing pictures to relatives is an idiot if they are still using an ISP provided email address. Wah wah I missed an email and it cost me a job is something I hear a lot from people around work. Meh. Look in your bloody webmail only spam folder or move to gmail.

ISP email services seem to be more of a hassle for ISPs and they only bother providing it since people expect it.

Oh hello there.

Guess what, I being an Xtra customer just had the same experience to a clear user :)

So yes, it would infact appear to be a delay bombardment issue.

Sorry, we were unable to deliver your message to the following address.@clear.net.nz>:

And yes, Should know better for using Xtra email. But had it since like 1990 :) Migrating forum singups etc for a 12 yr period to gmail takes a while ;)

TCL should really be whitelisting Xtra's servers... just saying, it seems reasonably that they'd get a hell of a lot of email from there!

Those headers show a bounce rather than a delay, pretty straightforward.

Not only this, but there are now more reports from Telecom users having this problem.

Time for TelstraClear to start looking at this?

We've also been having same issue (same 452 message) - emails sent from our xtra account to paradise.net email addresses have been bouncing since Thursday.  Message headers similar to Oblivian's posted above.

So, forgive my ignorance, but whose issue is it (if any one entity can be assigned blame!!)??

You.

Sorry edge, but we do say time and time again here to just get a gmail address rather than using xtra.

The messages you're getting are just a delay, not a non delivery.

Time for both parties to look at it?

Seems to me that this stuff goes both ways.  Someone commented about whitelisting...   for all we know it was whitelisted.

Do we know if it wasn't Yahoo changing something on their side that just broke something and they didn't bother to tell TCL before doing it and then also just ignoring the bounce messages they're sending back to their own customers?

Don, I suggest you check who you're replying to with more care. edge is not the OP, and your reply is exceptionally rude.

ya sorry... I really should have put some ""'s around that "You", because it's not edge's fault at all.

What I really meant was that I think we have to come to a point where users of the Xtra service really just have to accept that their mail provider is problematic and they really need to just take the endless advice of others to find a better provider.

edge I do apologize if you found my comment offensive, it was not intended that way.

Many have found the xtra mail system to be frustrating, I know I've wasted time on that one in the past.

D

You think wrong. the fault more likely lies with TC's filtering of incoming mail.

This is again a case of you pushing a change in provider when you have an established bias towards TC. I suggest you stop.

Don please do not take this off topic. We have now established there are a number of similar cases happening. Let's see if TelstraClear jumps in to try and find out the cause.

In the meantime any discussions around "[user] should change ISP" or "[user] should change email provider" is off topic.
