Hi

My friend joined clear ISP and ever so often my emails to him
bounce back from telecom with

clear.net.nz. Remote host said: 452 Too many recipients received this hour

Ive googled and seems related to clears mail spam filter
when thinks its a mail bomb

are they having issues where peoples email gets queued
and all of a sudden they manage to send all at the same time
triggering this situation

he said.. hes been getting no mail for days then gets like 100
show up in his mail box

I told him to contact clear about it but hasnt
is there any settings he can change by loggin in the web mail
interface or is it server admin problem to investigate?

none its nothing to do with that

its clears.co.nz spam filtering... if a flood of emails arrive at the same time
it will bounce so many once its over 50ty is what I understand

seems to me their email server must be down often and
peoples emails queue on yahoo etc and all are sent at the same time
triggering this error

i think they have a issue and not owing up to it

Hi all. Our email servers are operating as they should. If you have an issue you can log a fault through your online profile or by calling 0508 888 800.

Cheers, Gary

This is an SMTP issue, not a POP issue, from what you've said. Arriving emails should make no difference if the system's set up properly, just emails being sent.

Have him do a virus and malware scan, in case there's something on his PC spewing out spam.

Have him post the full headers from a few emails that take longer than expected to arrive, that will help track things down. Without this there's nothing much anyone can do to help you.

Your post really isn't that precise. You said he's on Clear, but you also say "my emails to him
bounce back from telecom with".

Clear shouldn't limit the number of people who can send him email each hour. The solution is to stop using ISP specific email addresses, switch to gmail or a paid service. That way when you change ISP it's easier as well. I have a Clear account, nothing goes there, even my "you have reached 80% of your traffic allowance" messages go to gmail now.

you dont understand still he dont get some of the emails
some of mine get to him and others dont

they bounce back to sender with that error

which if you google about means its related to the email servers spam controls

he might be able to turn the spam filtering off perhaps?
i told him to login and whitelist everyone.. dont know if he did

I dont know..never been with clear

I think it's pretty fair for me not to understand, the way you write. Sentences, capital letters, grammar, etc. Please start again, write your problem up correctly in proper English, and I'll have another look.

Like I said though, you need to get email headers otherwise no-one can help you. They will have to come from his email program, not yours.

+1

I am not clear why there is more complaining following Gary's comment.

Being a mail admin myself, and reading this thread, it seems all the OP really wants to do is vent frustration that he might actually have to investigate something properly to understand what's going on and does not want to take the advice of others here who have taken time to express help.

I can fully understand frustration at TelstraClear!  Man they do my head in often and I have yet another bill with issues I'm not happy with!!!

But in this case, Gary is right, and so are the others who have offered up solutions.

I do have to ask why the OP's mate is not just using a google account or setting up their own mail solution if they're so unhappy with Telstra?

obviously its nothing to Do with the senders who are using different email accounts
on different isps

its clears end

so theres a problem and its &(&*% reply saying theres nothing wrong
with their servers
this is so typical of Helpdesks..

I think last time he called for help he was on phone hours talking to india
and got no where.. hes was with snap before and never had that error
bounce to me its only since hes gone to new isp

perhaps if others are getting the same error and have or have not found
a solution let us know I guess

it may be a simple fix

I read telecom used to get that error for many users this year and seems it was
something they had to tweak

I'm unsubscribing from this thread, as you've not read the advice I posted twice already.

There may be. But if you're not going to listen to advice that people are giving you you're not going to get one.

People who can help you with solutions will be reading this post. Ranting about the ISP rather than providing key information such as email headers that are essential to diagnose a problem is going to get you absolutely nowhere.

This isn't a helpdesk, this is a forum of proffesionals, if you won't accept proffesional help, then you can't be helped.

we wait for others to complain to clear the same issue then it get fixed in the background

the only people who dont listen are the repliers here..

im not going to post a header of a private email bounce back... as its going to amount to the same
thing..

not us.. we dont care not our problem its all user issues :)

I dont care he just have to live with the crappy clear system.. I told him not to join them

You see, that's where you're wrong. the full headers from an incoming email message contain a wealth of information to administrators and professionals - like those here that are willing to help you if you are willing to provide them with the information they need to help you....

You really need to understand that we're not trying to fob you off, we're trying to get you to give us the information that will enable us to help you.

If your friend is indeed having messages delayed, then arriving all at once 2 days later, then yes, there's something wrong. let us help you work out where that is, so it can be fixed.

Finally, if it seems that people here are trying to fob you off, or are being rude, it's because they're frustrated that it appears you won't help from your end. And lets be clear here - "your end" means you, and your friend... saying "it's not me, it's my friend" is not helping - sure, it's your friend's email, but perhaps you can communicate with him to get the information we need (since we don't know who he is, so how can we contact him?).

.... Alternatively, you could get him to sign up here, and post the details we need? Suggest to him that it would probably be worth his while, if he's getting frustrated with the issue.
