dazzap: One thing that seems to be missing with VFX is capped calling like we already have for our WxC non-code tolls (no VFX at present - too costly). We pay $19.95/mth for 1000 mins to most civilised places in the world excl mobiles. This is a reasonable deal.
Why would any one of those who make frequent long toll calls switch, when they'll be paying more for the same thing?
You can never have enough Volvos!
Niel:
Because uncivilised South Africans like myself only have a choice between 16c per minute via the almost un-documented poor quality huge delay Telecom 0161 "service" and the 10c per minute good quality VFX product with very little delay.

Xnet: In relation to the speed comments and those of you wanting options for lower speeds at a lower price....... I wish we could! The only NDSL service available for wholesale is the FS/FS access. I actually believe that in time, the matter of speed will completely dissapear and all copper based broadband services might end up simply operating at the highest speed that the line is able to support.

I have a question on this one which has probably been answered a few times with various degrees of accuracy, but I would appreciate a technical answer from XNet. How come my modem sync at over 9Mbps, says my line can (with the conditions at this moment in time) go over 11Mbps, but still doing a speed test to the XNet server can not even produce 4Mbps throughput? I am on the Pakuranga exchange which was the first to go ADSL2+, so I would have thought I would have a relatively good connection into the backbone. What is missing from this equation? Thanks.
(Calls to China are cheap and good quality due to lots of competition, almost nothing for South Africa. And 0161 was removed from the phone book long ago, and used to be hidden on the web site.)
modcar: Can I have one vfx line with more than one number?
And, can I be in Wellington and get an Auckland number?
Xnet: But, many people are better off with a capping plan, so we will launch our standard Supercaps www.wxc.co.nz/tolls on VFX starting in January. We will post a thread next week advising those of you who are interested when you can make the request...

Niel: (When I started using GeekZone I had trouble with lost posts. Got into the habbit of copying before submitting long posts.)
Niel: But what about the internet data usage? Mine is always multiples of 10MB even though the bill states the cost "per MB". Not that a fraction of a cent will make a difference, simply wondering how it works. Thanks.
