I guess you could get the free phone, sell it on trademe and then ask us to NAM your old handset.. Personally I'd prefer to just get the $200 voucher. :)

The other issue is with an ESN swap is you would need to change the MDN/MIN on the TCL supplied phone if you were to sell it on Trademe or even give it to someone else, and unless TCL uses the same Nokia programming codes (possible) as Telecom do then on-selling the phone is pointless. Part of the beauty and pain of CDMA networks is locking the handset to the provider who supplied you the handset. Yay for GSM and Telecom going down the W-CDMA UMTS path, just a shame they will be running on 850Mhz, so most of the existing Voda handsets won't work on the new Telecom network.
And yes I have seen Telecom said they will keep the CDMA network until at least 2013 or so.... But time will tell once W-CDMA goes live as you can bet Telecom won't be offering CDMA phones anymore.

They use the same naming codes, and also the same repair company, Telegistics except they handle all the logistics from end to end.

Anyone on Boost text with Telecom can text a TelstraClear mobile and have it covered within their 2000 txts a month??

And anyone on a Freetime plan with telecom can use the monthly Telecom minutes to ring a TelstraClear mobile??

Technically yes, it is currently possible for that to happen. It shouldn't be happening though, so don't be surprised if you suddenly start getting charged.

Yes it should. TCL numbers are on net, and untill TCL get their own HLR, then it will remain that way.

Just wondered if there is anyone who has actually joined up with the NZ telstra Clear Mobile offer and if any problems faced. I am facing:
1. Not being able to send pix messages/attachments to both mobile and email.
2. Not being able to log on to the net.
3. Not being able to download ringtones (as you could through telecom).
4. Coverage issues.
5. Getting help from Telstra...???

Will test my mother's phone ASAP and report back.

i can confirm that browsing the net, and coverage is not an issue, as it is on the telecom coverage area. As of MMS it was confirmed sent, but did not seem to hit the vodafone target I wanted.

Is anyone using the Data cards with TelstraClear? I'm wondering what the speeds are like in Wellington CBD, and also whether you can connect to Telecom Private Office Networks by dialling the #777 number?

I am having issues with pix and text coming many hours late (outward pix and incoming text).

Same problem wih the texts... And my phone musn't be capable of pxts (HTC Apache)

Anybody having problems getting their voucher, getting voicemail turned off or finding a number to know how many texts have been sent?
