This is why I have just made the move to 2degrees.

I am on a 950/500 unlimited plan, how on earth is a move to 4G (the reception is rubbish at my house) an “upgrade” over fibre? I filled in the form and three days later there was still no call back so I contacted them on Facebook and still no call.

I do not appreciate having a service I am paying for changed without my permission. I understand that ISP can make you chance plans at times or increase pricing but a move from fibre to 4G is not a small change it’s a different connection method that has its own pro’s and cons. If I wanted wireless I would order it.

I refuse to waste anymore of my time with Vodafone, I should not need to chase them, this is very poor from a customer service perspective.

Mike

Is it normal for them to push fibre customers onto 4G?

This sounds like a process stuff-up because I understood that they were only moving copper customers to 4G.

I got the exact same email from them so I emailed back and said I'll be staying on copper and keeping my home line and I never heard back from them and no modem has arrived. Fiber has been available for a couple of years and Vodafone have contacted me about moving but I don't see the point when copper is working fine for me and I'm happy with the speeds.

Okay.... so I support people that wish to stay on Copper and not be forced onto 4G when there is no fibre available which makes up the majority of the people who have complained on this post

However if you have fibre available you should move as you will eventually get forced to to move when Chorus shuts down copper on your street in a few years time anyway (the Copper Withdrawl Code and 111 Contact Code will be signed off by the commerce commission very soon)

Fibre is the most reliable technology out there

I understand that eventually it will be shut down but until the day it gets shut down I'm happy to stay on copper. Even at the higher monthly price.

But Why? I can’t comprehend any reason for staying on copper when you have fibre available

The only connections on copper our customers have have in fibre areas is backup connections

If you're in a fiber area and remaining on copper then IMO losing a customer is the best thing they can do. Am surprised another will take someone on to copper in a fiber area except as a temp connection while fiber is installed.

I don't stream programs. I don't game. I can still use my landline in a power cut and I'm happy with the speeds so I don't see the point in moving. The previous owners had fibre installed so it's ready to get the day copper is shut down.

How often do you use your landline in a power cut though?

Sounds like he will be a candidate for the free maintained UPS that the RSP or LFC is going to have to provide in the 111 Contact Code

You do know that in a massive disaster that you your "copper landline" may not provide the safety net you are seeking

example of this is Kaikoura where even though the battery backup and  generators in the exchange kicked in, the cables from the exchange were completely destroyed, so all mobile and fixed line telecommunications were out

I understand that but once level four was on the TV and the cell sites were overloaded my trustee landline still worked.
