So my parents just got this email from Vodafone.

This is very interesting as currently they have a static IP, and use about 800GB per month.

Very interesting indeed. Anyone from Vodafone want to upgrade me from 600GB to unlimited? ;)

Not impressed with the arrogance of the company - "We'll be moving you......"   Where is the customer in this?

And if they hadn't messaged people telling them they're moving them to a better plan, in 12 months time when it become apparent that there was a better plan but people hadn't been told/moved to it, you'd be posting:

If that is a move to a more expensive plan then yeah badly written (no doubt by choice from the marketing team). Is there any data plans still? My Mum is on a $53 120gig and I wanted to move her to fibre but cheapest was way more than currently pays and only 1 unlimited plan she does not need. The 4g is crap her phone is always dead and you have to reboot the whole system.

Is the unlimited actually unlimited at full speeds or is there a cap at which it drops?

Is this in an area with no UFB? What sort of connection do they currently have, and what speed?

UFB, but using VDSL currently at 40Mbps.

We were waiting for a conduit from a subdivision to be installed before moving to UFB.

But surely the approach should have been along the lines of "We believe there is a more economical plan we can offer you based on our 4g network. These are the details.......

If you wish to take up this offer then call or email etc"

Not we know best and we are going to move you.

This automaically moving people around on plans seems to have become quite common in telco land of late (and electricity for that matter). I actually think it's fine personally, as long as the customer is genuinely better off overall. A lot of people aren't going to bother to call or email to opt in, but I see your point.

On another note though, unlimited wireless broadband for $73? That seems a very compelling offer - you wonder what the fine print is.

This is all about paying Chorus as little as possible - I'd just send the modem back and tell them you don't want it!

@nztim It will not be word for word but trust me it's in the T&Cs, If carriers want to force you off a plan onto another they can - end of story

If you don't don't agree they will just deactivate the connection like they did with an old Bell South plan called ' Off peak advantage '

In my time at VodafoneNZ we use to run scripts for bulk plan changes on Prepaid and Postpay!
