No. I'm nervous about leaving it on overnight in case it catches fire!

vientorio:  I can smell the hot plastic smell all throughout my home after having it powered for some 6 hours, and its really too hot to touch.

Out comes my laser thermometer and WOW! 68 degrees C on the silver strip at the front!  Is that normal?

Wow, that is very hot for an external surface of a consumer item. Hope you don't have any children who can touch it.

What is the power supply rated at for that device? All that wattage has to be coming from somewhere : )

12V 1A DC which is 12 watts.  Hardly seems enough to get all this heat; maybe poor ventilation design?

FWIW I've turned the upgrade sure signal off and put our old one back in, Ill contact Vodafone next week about the excessive heat.

Merry Christmas

If I remember correctly it seemed to me like the Huawei HG556A (Vodafone Broadband Complete) modem got quite hot as well. Whats the brand and model on this new one?
