This thread is a bit troubling since I was thinking of getting a T-box also. But given the problems it has in recording I was considering only getting it so I could watch FreeviewHD and possibly Sports in HD. I would retain my recording facility using gbpvr and a Freeview HD tuner. That gives me the more stable platform (if reading this thread is any guide) for recording HD content plus retains the ability to move the content elsewhere or watch on other devices while adding the ability to watch FreeviewHD live which I currently cannot easily do.

If TCL had a Digital STB with HD (without recording) I would get that instead but looking at their site it seems that they are phasing out their Digital STB with SD.

I was watching a recording last night when the system froze. Looking at the time, it was as another recording completed. A (quick - yeah right!) reboot later and the system is back up, the recording that was finishing is part recorded (It'll all be there if past experience is anything to go by) and I was able to watch the reecording I was viewing when the system crashed, though I did have fast-forward through to find where I was up to.
I haven't had this happen for quite some time.

Screen went black again last night requiring another reboot, needless to say I lost the programme that was being recorded plus the following recording as well. Telstraclear has had many years to get this right but still are incapable of fixing the problem - to think I paid $499 to get this rubbish.

Just to let you know you are not alone. We have switched on the TV on two occasions this week to get a black screen, and, guess what, we had to reboot to fix the problem. I certainly couldn't recommend the T/Box.

Have just recently in the last week or so noticed after switching on the TV the T-Box has black-screened and is unresponsive, requiring a reboot. Also, sometimes when we turn on the telly its on TV1 when we almost never watch that channel. Whats with that?

Starting up on TV1 is a bug that was introduced perhaps 2 updates ago. Gary from TelstraClear has posted that it will be fixed. Next year

There has been an "improvement" made to the EPG that is very frustrating.

When I am using the blue info banner to surf the different chanels and see what else is on, I often press the "i" button to read the description of a particular program that is currently on a different chanel.
BUT when I try to step back from the program detials and return the blue EPG banner, now it simply closes completly and I have to scroll through the chanels again to browes whats on - annoying.

I'm aware that the holiday period is known as the silly season but this is past a joke. Turned on the television to another blank, black screen to-day, and needed to do the reboot shuffle to get the T-Box back up and running.

Surely there must be someone that can either get this box working as should be, or at least start reimbursing customers for all the problems experienced. They can start by reimbursing me for the cost of castors that I fitted to make things easier when dragging the television out from the wall to gain access to the power plugs that need to be turned on, and off, on a regular basis.

We have the same problems. New one last night. Watched a recorded programme and then could not delete it. It froze. did the usual reboot of the T/Box heap of junk to fix. Telestra should be paying us to use the T/Box, not charging us for its use?.

I have given up on TBox now. Last week my planner showed I had used up 99% of my space but it was only showing 3 recordings. It had wiped out everything else. I was so upset as I had lost everything I wanted to watch later. It seems pointless ringing them because sending a technician out to change or fix during working hours is not easy. Reading all updates it's very clear there is a series of underlying issues that need to be addressed. I understand things go wrong with technology but this is beyond a joke now. Does anybody know if Telstra Australia are having similar issues??

Starting with a blank screen seems to be getting more and more frequent here, too. One reboot fixes it, tho.

Whats the operating environment you guys in? Our t-boxes from first day have been doing well. Seem very weird and strange that you all experiencing less than happy usages.

Internet is my backyard...

40C inside a closed Cabinet with no ventilation or 20C with a well ventilated cabinet.

The T-Box (and MySky) have a operating temperature as stated in the manual of 0C-> 50C
