My understanding was that as a result of losing the court case the billing was changed so that you were now charged $1 immediately, rather than the old partial rating system until you hit the 200kb or $1 mark where data was then zero rated.
So then this is something of the past:
We're charging at the rate of $5 per megabyte up to $1, which works out at less than 1c/KB. Once you hit $1 there's no charging from there to 10MB. From there it's $1/MB until midnight and it's reset for the next day.
You told us you didn't want a walled garden... so it's gone. No more walled garden. Instead, everything is charged at this rate (the only exceptions being Vodafone Compass and Sky Mobile TV). That's not to say future offers won't be zero rated but the model has been reset to be more like the online experience on the regular internet in that you pay for traffic not for content.
