That no good. I am stuck on 60GB of data but not interested in upgrading to the 100mbit download and 10mbit upload warpspeed plan just to have 150GB of data. ($155.95 per month)

The homeplans give you 100GB Data + Phone + Free wireless modem + Free connection for $90/month, or 150GB data for $105per month.

That's quite a good summary, but I'm quite confused.

Why are you still an Inhome HFC customer? Why not just move to V/ADSL?

Our street is on cable. No copper. One of the reasons i was forced to leave my previous isp Snap when we moved into our new house.

I was far better off on naked adsl.

We live up a cul-de-sac in Paraparumu. No copper going up into the cul-de-sac, only telstraclear cable.

To get the copper in, they needed to do some trenching in our yard, and run the copper down to the main road. At my expense, so reluctantly switched to telstraclear.

This is what I was told by Snap anyway. Chorus guy had come out and explained the situation. They don't do trenching either so switching was my easiest option.

quickymart: It's a best effort basis - no one guarantees service. But at the very least he should be reporting the fault and giving them a chance to try and fix it.

Doesn't matter if it's best effort or not, or whether the service is guaranteed or not The Consumer Guarantees Act says the service needs to be of a reasonable standard. If it's not, then there is grounds to complain and potentially negate the contract. Too many people accept the claims by ISPs that "best effort" means they can deliver crap all service and expect you to pay full price for it. It doesn't mean that at all, and the contract cannot override the law.

Additionally, the T-Box is a product that TelstraClear issues, and TCL does have a responsibility to make sure it does what it says.

Yes, but you have to at least give them a chance to fix it. Just saying "my service is crap, please cancel" is not really fair without even letting them try and resolve the problem. And any internet connection is "best effort" basis.

As to the T-Box, I have no idea as I've never used one...but the comments I've seen on here don't exactly inspire me.

I've convinced myself that TelstraClear won't be announcing any plan changes because of the Vodafone/TC acquisition.. which sucks because that could take a wee while.

Yep, I daresay any changes to products and services wouldn't be done until after the merger goes ahead (assuming it does) as the newly formed company will want to review all products and services offered.

warp speed at a disgusting price hike difference , shame on you Telstraclear.

Yeah I agree with some the other loyal customers about getting free extra bandwidth, my mate at Telecom got a free upgrade

from 20 gig to a 100 gig,and no I don't want to go to Telecom but may be forced to when my contract runs it's course.

You do understand that they give you a new DOCSID3 modem?

You do realise that if they just upgraded all the DOCSIS2 plans then the network would get congested?

You do realise that they just couldn't push 80Gb to every customer on a node with 500 subs and have users still able to get 15/2 speeds consistently?

I agree UFB value just rocks... but, UFB is tax payer funded to the tune of $1.5b.

Can you explain the math to me that will let TCL bring us the same value?

...oh, and while we're at it, did you read the rest of the thread and take any of the suggestions/advice?

no I haven't done the maths but I but I do know that if I go from 60 to 100 gig its a big price jump that is a given

and yes I would accept free upgrades but as i said above I am prepared to pay I would like more choices

and if you have noticed and I'm guilty also my monthly bill is slowly going up year by year why because we are slowly getting to

the stage of needing this wanting that and cant do without this and that, we could but we won't

bring back dial up modems LOL

I would suspect that Telecom have been loosing customers so have capacity to sell. Telecom have also said they'll take a loss to keep bb customers as they consider them strategic. I suspect we'll see that change when the next set of figures hit shareholders.

I suspect TCL are milking the uptake of Warp currently and using price to manage uptake. Installations cost them capital, so they're going to be looking for the highest APRU they can get to fund more connections.

There's also only so many techs to do the installations, so I'd suspect that has something to do with the offerings as well.

If they offer 500Gb for $99 will that cause 35,000 users to all want to upgrade? That's $3,500,000 in modems and $3,500,000 in installation costs, so $7 million in capital they have to find.

Would you pay a $200 upgrade fee?

I would think about that.

In all honesty telstra have been reliable But it just seems like telstra are constantly lagging behind with the plans and their way of dealing with customers who are unsatisfied is to say leave or upgrade because we wont give you a deal for being with us any amount of time.

Having been on telstra for the past 6 or so years I have not used telecoms adsl so im not sure how it performs and I dont understand the connection costs. Since I dont use a phone line does that mean I cannot connect with out a large fee.

The other issue for me is I use Voip and I prefer that to a phone line but it is really hard to get naked broadband at a reasonable price.

Jermsie, respectfully, a phone rep is likely to knows as much about the product update/release lifecycle as an Islington based gnat knows about the bus timetable in Liverpool.

The guys and girls that have to forecast capacity requirements for the TCL networks, be it access or core can have a hard enough time prying info out of the product peeps.
As you may understand, it's quite commercially sensitive.
