I have one of these modems now and after having fibre with MR and using the ASUS RT-N56U this new modem is a let down. For me, its only one reason. There is no QoS feature that I can see which is going to affect me in a big way. My wife streams Netflix every night while I online game. I set up the QoS on the asus to allocate most the bandwidth to me and leave enough for her to stream in Full HD. It worked very well. When turned off I would lag and she would buffer sometimes. Can somebody recommend a way around this?

I have the TC7210D as of last weekend and so far found it to be pretty good, except for one thing. The 13" Retina MacBook Pro is unable to use the 5GHz - it goes incredibly slow to the point that its unusable. It works fine on my MacBook Air though, so it's really strange.

Yeah that's my fear too given what @freitasm posted that Vodafone will mandate a roll out of new modems for cable users. I would much rather have the modem to be dumb and be bridge and continue the current setup I have at home, than trying to make things work with it :-/

I've just been put onto one of these... has anyone had any luck with Port Forwarding? For some reason none of my port forwarding is working at all...

Yeah good luck with that.

These are ultra budget crappy products, designed to save money for Vodafone, and not in any way shape designed for power users (that being anyone who'd ever want to log in and configure anything themselves).

Fight to the death to keep a Cisco instead.

Pretty much what I though and exactly what seems to be the case... Don't think I have a choice on it though as I don't have another modem :(

That is a very scary thought! Equally bad would be if they decided to allocate dynamic IP addresses to us!

I have some horrid 5GHz speeds, even when the laptop is <2m from the router with just air in between.

More annoyingly, mine makes a nasty whine when it's transmitting a decent amount of data on 5GHz ... must be the turbocharger, eh ...

I would also like to know when Bridge mode is coming.

I called VF tech support who said an update is coming (as per previous post), but they had no idea when.
The portforwarding on these new modems is incredibly flaky, and the wifi keeps dropping every couple of days.

I miss my old ASUS router. 100% uptime over 2 years and portforwarding actually works.

I'm about to have a technician turn up to investigate some internet outage issues. I'm very concerned that he is going to attempt to replace the Cisco cable modem with one of these Tecnicolour things. Given I already have a Netgear Nighthawk router setup and running quite happily, I'm not at all happy about the prospect of having to ditch it and start from scratch on something that I suspect is not going to be as good.
I'm assuming that they still haven't allowed them to run in bridge mode yet.
Fingers crossed the issue is something outside the house which I'm guessing is likely given that during the outages, both TV and interweb modems go all blinky.

I see at CES Linksys came out with a nice shiny new 8x24 model that can do 960/240Mbps. http://www.linksys.com/us/p/P-CM3024/

I suspect that would make a much nicer replacement for the DPC3008 (which while Cisco branded was really Linksys/Cisco before Cisco flicked Linksys off to Belkin).

Decisions on what to range for group worldwide are made in Newbury, UK. Nice place, have been there many times. Half the village is Vodafone.

But that means NZ has to do as group directs - like range the Station etc...
