Hmmm, both these questions have been asked several times before, but to summarise:

Q: Can I have one vfx line with more than one number?

A: Maverick mentioned a while back that they are looking at providing a secondary number in a different LICA (free calling area) which would forward calls through to a nominated VFX number in a different LICA i.e. you could have a main number in Wellington and an Auckland number which forwarded the calls to it. However, this function is not yet available.

You could work around this today but getting a SPA2102 (or the cheapest VFX Supported device) registering the number, plug it in once, divert all calls always to the other number and never plug the device in again....

I think Telecom calls it CustomerLink

I'm moving to a new place in dunedin in January so I've got a couple of questions I'd really appreciate your input with.

1. Will Xnet fusion available in Dunedin then?

2. Will there be any new connection fees? (i dont think there will be an existing line connection)

3. If i decided against naked DSL, what are the typical new line connection fees for a normal phone line?

1. Yes it will be

2. Yes they will be the standard connection charges, companies will still be charged by Telecom for the the line installation even though it will be a Naked DSL service , so this charge will still apply, so there will be no difference in install charges for a Standrad line or Naked DSL line.

3. As for the 3rd Question which is also part of question 2...I'm not sure myself at this time sorry......

As I woke up this morning I was thinking Geekzone is great for WxC to help their customers, but it is also a great tool for finding out exactly how much your customers know about your products. Ok, I'll get back on topic.

How about a temporary mailing list where we can sign up to get the Fusion launch announcement? And how about then first announcing it to WxC customers and give them 24h to sign up before announcing it to the ROW (rest of world) and to help existing WxC customers avoid the Xmas rush (or rather Fusion rush)?

We are a business in a serviced office. We started canceling bits off our Telecom bill in April, first the 0800 and then the broadband, and then various other bits and pieces. Now our bill only has a basic phone line charge of something like $59.xx which I have been unable to bring down to a lower rate, and not for lack of trying, I call them up every month or two and tell them I'm a senior citizen, or youth, or work for rotary, or don't use my phone etc but thats the cheapest they will give it to me for.

Strange as I've seen other clients on $40/Month for business landlines. I figure ringing them up and wasting 20 minutes of their time a month is sufficient payment for my $20 extra a month :-)

Bring on Naked DSL

I can second that, we use wxc at work and changing to vfx saved us a crap load of money on local calling, and naked dsl is set to save us a further $40 a month :D

We rent a Telecom line through TelstraClear and pay $39.95 + GST per month. Yet the best Telecom could offer was $59.xx if we brought our business back to them. Go figure!

Our other 2 Telecom business lines were replaced by VFX connections about 11 months ago now and we haven't looked back

WxC are saving us sh1teloads of money as well

I think I may have read something about this elsewhere on geekzone but with regards to the sign up process currently with WXC/xnet it asks for your telecom account number. I have my home phone with ihug and do not have a telecom acct number?

Another question, when I had woosh the caller ID only worked if the caller was calling the number assigned by woosh, not my telecom number which I had ported to them. This was very frustrating as they advertised the extra services such as caller ID without mentioning that for them to work you would have to be prepared to use the number they give you. What is the story with xnet, I am going to keep the telephone number I currently have, will all of the services still work?

I had a line rented from TelstraClear and signed up for Xnet without any problem. The important thing is the phone number, not so much your account number.

I have a number that was originally with Telecom and was then ported to Xnet about 8 months ago. Caller ID and all the other services work on that line exactly the same as they do on a "native" VFX line i.e. using a WxC 950xxxx number.

Thanks for the info. I have left my details for someone from Wxc to call me tomorrow. I need to find out what sought of time frame we are looking at for ndsl to become available, if it's only a week or two I may as well wait until then before signing up. If it is going to be end of Jan onwards I may consider changing to Wxc and xnet and keeping my ihug homeline until ndsl goes live.
