No... it's about folk changing their mind about what ever they've made a commitment to and then blaming someone else.
It's an acceptable model, and there are lots of other acceptable ones too. It just happens that the OP has decided it doesn't suit anymore.

Jaxar: If the alternative plan that gives him control over that 1 or 2 days ends up costing more than the $30 double your data cost then I would suggest it is likely he would feel less ripped off on realising this.

The waters are little muddied by difference between the OP's heading and his explanation.

As you acknowledge, the OP "feels" ripped off because when he reaches his cap, he has to purchase another data block. He only uses a fraction of this data block before it expires. Therefore he's paid a chunk of money for something he can't use.

I've only thrown WxC up because they are an example of the opposite of this. If my billing cycle ended in 3 days and I'd reached my cap, I go online and whack on another 100gb in a matter of seconds. If I only use 20mb from this increase, 20mb is all I'd get charged for. If you want to bring pricing into it, I'd only pay a few cents for this data, rather $30 for a block of data, most of which I wouldn't use. I reckon I'm on the good side of happy here :-)

It seems to me, all he's saying is he wants a fairer billing system.

No... it's about folk changing their mind about what ever they've made a commitment to and then blaming someone else.

It's more likely that, like most people, the T&C's weren't read through and the model therefore not understood.

Acceptable? - to some.

After reading quickly - I dont see mention of slowdown in data?
With VF you have the choice of more data or reduced speed. Its one of the reasons I went with VF as many others dont offer that service. Most force you to pay for additional data.

Im more than happy to take a slowdown of data at the end of the month. The difference is I dont come near my caps to start with

I for one am pretty happy with VF broadband and quite like the doube your data option. If it's a big month (steam around xmas!) it's great. If it's not, I'm just be a bit more careful and don't use up my original 60GB.

Sure it might be nice if the doubled data rolled over for say for a week... but honestly not a big deal to me.

What alot of people are saying is, we want more data when we reach our cap, we don't expect it to be free, but we would like the option of buying a smaller fixed amount of data instead of just doubling the data and end up losing GB's of unused data at the end of the month.

Xtra charge $2 a gigabyte over your allocated amount, or you can opt to be throttled instead.

I think a lot of ISPs charge about $2 per GB for over cap data, $30 for 60GB on vodafone seems pretty good value imo.

For sure, flexibility would be nice. There is perhaps a gap in what VF offer for those heavy users. I just query why the OP needs 'full speed' internet as opposed to another data purchase. He doesnt go into that kind of detail.

Personally, $30 for another 60gig is quite reasonable in todays market. I suppose they could offer him 20gig for $20.40 to make him happy.......
