I am feeling ripped off. I have the Vodafone Ultimate Pack which gives me 60 gig. I am finding that nowadays as we all want more data, I am doubling my data with about 1 / 2 or 3 days to go, costing me $30 and i don't use anywhere near that much.
I don't think its about managing what data i have, rather I can't believe that these days there isn't some way that i can pay for any data that i use rather than a lump sum $30!

Are there any better similar plans out there?? would be keen to know.

Cheers!

Corrected.

muppet: Move to WorldExchange where you pay more per-gig?

Personally I am very impressed with the price of the Double Data package and the only complaint I have is only being allowed to add more Data once.

Consider with other ISP's such as Xnet (WorldExchange) you would get a little over 20GB for $30 or with Orcon you would get 15GB, Most others even charging more.

what did stephen fry say while filming in nz?

every nz-er should hit the streets and complain
about the high prices poor data caps and poor
speed and demand the same service rest of
world gets

the biggest rip off and the mobile phone data caps

when your on prepaid you would expect
to buy 100mb etc and not have it
stolen at the end of the month if its not used

like so many services in the world where
you can buy a block of data for home or phone
and when it runs out you top it up
with more such as usenet accts

not in nz!

you can top up prepaid for phone calls
and texts
but not data the same way

thats the big rip off

(annoyed I got a 100mb bonus with my
smart phone and I got to use 1mb of
it only have rest stolen by the vodafone)

Using words like " stolen " and you want people to take you seriously?

funny that everyone I know family and friends all say the same.

its theif plan and simple

you buy data you expect only to top it up when it runs out
same with texts or calls

If you have a theft complaint you should be visiting your local police station and lodging a complaint and getting a reference number!

As advised no one will take you seriously

kiwigeek1 and johnr you both need to cool off, stolen is maybe not the exact word to use. I guess you could go and make your case over on the vodafone forums, but then there would be a pretty good chance the moderator there (who shall remain nameless) would just remove the post.  Alot of people are quite annoyed with data caps/speed/pricing on both ADSL and mobile, the only way the telco's will listen is for people to say something, you can add me to this list

i know the terms and Im saying everyone I know all say its a rip off

prepaid should be that prepaid.. pay as you go..

no to have packages to force monthly charges

perhaps if they offered a bulk package deal they win over more people to their service

We do listen to our customers and take feedback on thru Vodafone voice, Many people on Geekzone have been part of this! Vodafone like other carriers in New Zealand have a business to run, staff to pay, rent, power, R&D, Share holders and many other things that go with running a technology driven business,

Do you think NSN, Alcatel lucent Huawei, Ericsson ETC give us kit for free and ongoing support 24/7 at no cost?

you fail to see you make more money from me and others if you had buy data and top
up when need more and rule to buy more data with the 12 months period ending or loose it all

that would be acceptable..

i would buy $50 worth if was like that.. 3gb etc but

for now I just use wifi to home lan for my smartphone and if need too get the $1 charge
for 10mb for the day.. if its a one off

so until such a plan comes about i do that

anyhow enough on this back to work..

While I do not agree that ISP's are thieves for using expiring systems, I do agree that perhaps there are better marketing and credit based systems available to be used out there that are currently in place in other countries that leave customers feeling a little less robbed.

But do note that these systems are both engineered to give customers a specific value based on what the company deems acceptably profitable and customers generally get an equal amount of value out of the system no matter what so the effect is primarily psychological.

While you are right and you should not by any means do anything that loses money there are perhaps better systems out there that are sitting around waiting for a NZ ISP to pick up and use them that may make customers more satisfied and could pump up your customer base because of that (2 Degrees are pushing towards it themselves)
