Hi, apologies for the radio silence for a couple of days.

I can confirm that multiroom is now officially live!  To add multiple boxes to the same account:

  1. Sign into vtv.nz
  2. Click the TV Services tab
  3. In the Linked TV devices section, click Add a device
The Select the type of device to add screen appears

  4. Click the image of VodafoneTV
  5. In the Multiroom section, click Generate activation code

Freeview multiroom costs nothing other than the cost of the boxes.

Sky multiroom costs $25 per extra box.

If you need to merge two separate accounts please just direct message me and I'll help sort that out.  Note however that you can only merge accounts that are either Freeview or Sky.  You won't be able to run some boxes with freeview and others with Sky - to achieve a mixture you will need to maintain separate accounts.

Other updates coming soon!

Hamish

Thanks for the updates, appreciated. What is the status of the fixes, have they or when will they be pushed out? I have to be honest here I am close to returning the device for a refund.

$25 seems steep when the customer owns the hardware, where as with Sky they're renting it...

I bit like how multi-rooming only gives access to the initial 500Hr of cloud data rather than increasing in multiples. A bit cheap really.

@Sansom Is there anywhere we can see a listing of the fixes, features etc of the latest update?

Latest features and bug fixes, VodafoneTV software update  5.1.5711.06jfa(NZ) now available on Gen2.

Brief release notes:

  • Support for Amazon Prime App (there will be a GA release of the app soon)
  • HDMI interoperability improvements
  • Resolves VodafoneTV black screen issues
  • General performance and stability improvements

The VodafoneTV boxes update themselves automatically in the early morning hours. If your VodafoneTV has not updated, you can force an update by going to Settings > More Settings > Updates.

For the Sky boxes with recording you pay $40/mth for each MySky multiroom, and $45/mth for MySky+ multiroom.

Thanks! I assume the 'black screen issues' is when the video/stream doesn't play but audio and menu items would display fine?

I'll update and report back mate!

Unfortunately we don't have a shippable release for Gen1.  The Gen1 release we are currently testing has two serious issues than means we can't even roll it out to Beta testers.   Based on our developer feedback, and the support schedule over Christmas, means it won't be available for general release until late Jan at the earliest.  We are likely to be able to include GZ members on a pre-release trial if you're interested, just send me your STB serial number(s).

I already mentioned that earlier in thread.

I have no plans to put Sky on it at moment, and will just do with one box. For a saving of $25 a month if do put Sky on it, will just move the one box between TV's, plus save cost of buying second box.

To quote that is how Sky does it, with an extra $15 record charge, hows that working out for Sky with the non Sport customers?

Haven't tested through HDMI splitter, but hopefully will work to reduce wear and tear HDMI plug on TV.

I accept the charge is what it is, and will just work around it.

Tested on HDMI splitter.

1080p works fine, no picture on 4k. As there's no 4k Sky content and I can run 4k applics through Apple TV (Direct connect Apple to TV, as Apple doesn't charge per device and everything available on one available on other, so have two of them).

The Splitter is years old, so could probably get 4k working if got 4k splitter and made sure cable up to it, not worth it at moment.

My unit appears to be running the software version referred to above, but it says that the software was last updated on October 22 and when I first turned it on tonight it suffered from the usual problem of having to wait several minutes for it to establish an internet connection.

I am very confused.

@Sansom

Mine is also running the version referred to above - but the ‘last update date’ says ‘Not Available’.

I’m also confused - why do some units show an update date - but others don’t?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Sorry first time poster long time lurker for info...

Anyway,
Every morning I have to go through the ritual of unplugging the Ethernet cable and conducting a power cycle. The standby button and remote on/off will not work is this due to it trying to update early each morning? As after both times I have had to manually update the box reboots and does not show anything on screen no sound either. I have bravia sync on tv turned off (pia with regards to this great feature for my stereo and ps4 set up) I also only run the remote on ir due to conflict with my sony remotes as the will not go to the home screen on my tv with Bluetooth enabled on vtv. Do I have a dud box or what? When vtv works it is great and has been slowly getting better since I bought it 2 weeks ago but still it is doing my head in. I have never come across a more unreliable piece of equipment. Any help?
