im on xnet flood and i have been affected as well so its not just the river plan.

Well maybe that confirms my theory that address ranges have something to do with this problem.

Xnet's Static IPs are on a different address range to their Dynamic IPs which are now assigned via the new system I believe.

It seems like these "Strange Speed Drops" are only affecting addresses which are being routed via Xnet's new system.  Because my Flood connection is on a Static IP, it is unaffected by this problem.

I don't have a static IP. (Unless someone added it without me applying...)

Not quite Grant, but a reasonable assumption Wink, it is being worked on with vendor support as we speak, we do apolagise for the delays but is proving to be a difficult issue to track down the root cause.

I'm on a static IP and initially started this post shortly after being moved to the new system. My speed was "throttling" every couple of days or so. However, since Xnet initially thought they had resolved this issue, I haven't had a drop off since. So would seem that at least part of the problem was solved then.

I've had this same issue at home, work, and at a customers site this week, all on Xnet Flood plans.
Work and Customer's site both using Linksys AM300 routers, Home using a 3com wireless router.
Speed dropped off to ~20-30kB/sec up and down, reset the routers and all was fine again.
Work and customer are both on static ip, my home connection is dynamic - all connections sync upwards of 5mbit.

Yes, that's EXACTLY my situation as well.

Also using a 3Com wireless router, also on Dynamic IP.  Speed dropped so low I couldn't even get the Speedtest page to load -- it was just PATHETICALLY SLOW on all web pages both within the Xnet site and further afield.

Did a Soft Restart on Router and all was fine, sync. was 7616kbps both before and after restart. Go figure!

All I can say is that we are working on it and it has a very high profile with some equipment vendors at present

Hmm seems to be contagious ... just had my first bout of it 10 minutes ago down to 56kbps.  At least the band-aid (reset) is quick!  And here I'd been wondering what the heck it was all about and hoping I'd escaped it.  Godspeed Phil!

I've had the same problem over the last 2months, using Netgear D834G. I though this was rather strange, but when I rang xnet I was meet with blank faces (in manner of speaking). I also mentioned this same problem that I had read of here and told it didn't exist.
