Lias: I see at CES Linksys came out with a nice shiny new 8x24 model that can do 960/240Mbps. http://www.linksys.com/us/p/P-CM3024/
I suspect that would make a much nicer replacement for the DPC3008 (which while Cisco branded was really Linksys/Cisco before Cisco flicked Linksys off to Belkin).
@VodafoneDylan @Johnr @zollymonsta We can has nice toys ? ;-P

I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. I understand our terminals team have been looking into options for docsis 3.1 support (but I don't have any information about their decision, and even if I did know anything wouldn't be able to say until it's public because of business reasons). They'll be looking for the best match of features, realiability, all the things. We like toys too, but it needs to be a good easy experience for mainstream customers as well.

I hope your parents are on an unlimited connection. Open port 53 is the tool of choice for amplification attacks and other ISPs had lots of people going over their allowances because of this.
If this is indeed open then I'd really expect Vodafone to own up and get this fixed ASAP.
