If it does, that would pretty much kill it off. Not much point in a PVR without a 30s and 2m skip.

Without trying to be accused of trolling - I would have thought "fast-forward programmes at high speeds" would be fairly critical to a PVR! How can a feature as core as this be something that is in the last 5% of things to get right - surely it should have been in the first 5%, along with play and stop!!

I like TelstraClear not a bad service for not a bad price - they need to learn from Telecom's mistakes - get it right first time or suffer the sharp wit of NZ. Why tease us with delivery dates when the product is still in a testing phase? You don't see Apple doing that!

Suggestion: TelstraClear, don't start charging the extra fee until all the problems are ironed out. This will give us chance to use and abuse the kit without being able to complain about the cost. It will also be an incentive to stay with TCL rather than switching to a competitor as we wait, and wait, and wait.....

PS if you still need in home testers - let me know :)

Many PVR's stop the one button press to fast forward in 30s blocks since that makes it easier to skip ads (being they are usually 30s or 60s long). But they never block fast forwarding in general. So perhaps the issue is, how to disable the one button skip.

For many years Tivo had this feature and then it was disabled but astute users could enable it by a remote control seqeuence.

Ahhh I see the distinction - my Panny HDD has the skip (30s) and manual skip where you can select multiples of whole minutes which is great for skipping the ads.

That's impressive. And with the LAN and USB ports there are all sorts of possibilities. Of course, we don't actually know what we'll be able to do with any of those ports...

What are the chances that we will be able to stream a channel down our(home wifi) local network and watch a channel on the laptop downstairs for example?

Probably fairly minimal. Broadcasters are being tied into DRM by content providers and don't really have a choice in many cases.

Seems like they are sourcing TV3 HD off Sky, rather than Freeview (probably to not have the Chch/Wlg TV3 Ads and needing two streams... ahh the fun of content rebroadcasting).

And it's not standard DVB stream either with a audio pid/video pid etc. Something very strange that won't work with non-provider boxes. Oh well that's a bother.

GUTTED!!! I missed out on that... I would have been a legend in my own mind.

When I scanned there was no PMT but if sub was seeing that then there must have been.. Will have to check again.
