My approx timings on the current TBOX FF/RW speeds are: x4 = 6sec/sec, x10 = 18sec/sec and x32 = 60sec/sec (which tallies with other's reported observations).
Personally, I find the higher speeds using the same button config makes it easier to overshoot when skipping short sections and longer adverts. I end up jumping too far, then to far back, and so forth.
I may get used to it with practice.
I would prefer the original speed config, but with the additional x60 available by pressing the FF/RW button a fourth time.

The trade descriptions act would have something to say about the speedsnot being accurately named

I'd have to agree, or instead of a super fast forward, a button that will jump forward in 5 minute increments.

Very, very disappointed. Came in to the lounge this morning and saw the red light on the T_Box and I knew nothing was being recorded and sure enough screen was black and in the planner was one failed recording and 2 partial recordings. We've waited so long for this update and what a let down. I really don't care so much about faster response times - I just want to to record things and not freeze up! I honestly think it's time for Telstra to man up and say this product does not do what it is supposed to do and suspend all charges for it until it is working properly. I believe it is 18 months since the T-Box was put on the market and for it still to be crashing like this is ridiculous. I am sick of waiting months and months for updates and then the updates not working.

Has anyone else noticed some new behaviour with HDMI CEC since the update?

The T-Box is connected to my Denon receiver, along with DVD player etc, all using HDMI.

I got home last night to the complaint that while the others were trying to watch a DVD, the receiver kept switching to the T-box input. DVD still playing, input changed to T-Box after about 10 seconds.

The T-Box was "off" i.e. red light, so there is no way it should have been talking to the receiver. I watched it happen 3-4 times, so it is consistent behaviour.

The only way to fix this was to turn off the HDMI CEC on the receiver, dutifully done, but what a pain.

Had my first freeze of the new version too happen @ 8pm Wednesday night and, as I was out, then caused 5 programs to fail

It seems to me the end-of-recording freeze bug seems to now be worse - previously it only seemed to really happen when another program was starting recording at the same time as the other ending. But not it just seems to have frozen for no good reason...

I'd say that my T-Box freezes at least twice a week, and it always seems to be at the end of a recording event, whether I'm watching something, recording something, or asleep in bed. I think that it just happens, regardless of what other actions the user may or may not be doing.

I'm bitterly disappointed that this hasn't been fixed, as I'm sure that it's the cause of almost every freeze that I have to put up with.

Me too.

Went away for the weekend and got home to find the red light on. Two reboots (hard power off really) later I was able to get a picture on my screen. Interminable updating later and I see recording failed since Friday night because the box was powered off. Bugger (and a few other choice epithets).

Was chatting to another friend who has one, and she laughed - she's come to accept this is normal behaviour and doesn't bother calling.

Perhaps if Telstra Clear created a dedicated help line and advertised this, and put enough staff on it to make a call worthwhile (a wait of only a minute or two), they'd start to see what's really going on. I have not found one person who has had a great experience with the Tbox. Maybe Telstra Clear could introduce some of these happy users and they can educate the 2% minority of us as to what is is wew are doing wrong (the 2% figure comes from an earlier post by TCL).

Fit for purpose? I'd be willing to pay for something that worked. I'm happy I'm currrently not.

I'm now experiencing this again (once or twice a night on average), and it seems to have reappeared at the same time as the latest software was released. Changing to the next channel and then changing back again seems to fix it, but really...

Is anyone else experiencing this again?

Last night I had the entire system pause for a few moments - picture and audio.

I've had this a lot in the past few days, almost as if I'm pausing live TV when I actually haven't touched it.

Yes, Pete, I have had some sound cutting in an out over the weekend. Had forgotten just how annoying it can be. I haven't tried the channel changing trick yet, but hope this will fix it.

Other than that (I hesitate to write this, for fear of a jinx) the T-box has been just fine since 23March, when the update came through.

Actually, langers, yes, now that you mention it.........I have seen the whole picture and sound freeze happening the last couple of days, too, and it did happen last night. But I thought (probably incorrectly) that it was a problem with the Sky broadcast that was causing it :-(
