Just a bit confused. So the Cisco's still work up to the 100/10 on the current network. The Technicolour is just a new device for the same thing then.
MarcelCeeITEE: Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone using this device (that has not yet posted here) is happy with it in comparison with the Cisco "dumb" device.
Currently use Cisco device with Netcomm NF5 and wondered if this is an improvement. May implement old WRT350N with current Cisco if Technicolor device does not deliver. May consider mixing other network devices with Technicolor if it's an OK device.
Regards,
Marcel
Hmmm... note it's been several months now and there is still no update on 'bridge mode'

Not having bridge mode could be a dealbreaker as I currently have a custom setup.
Current network setup is Netcomm NF5 router connected to 8 port unmanaged switch. I have 10 ports connected via cat6 solid core going to a central point in the house.
I will only be using the Technicolor for 3 RJ45 ports, there will be a Linksys WRT350N and the NF5 connected via CAT6, all in the central comms point in the house.
Given there may be issues with the Technicolor disallowing me to set up the network the way I want it, I may need to cancel the order for the tech to come out.
When I have a spare hour I might call Vodafone tech support and ask if there is any update on bridge mode. At this point I am thinking that the probability of having is not likely.

... any update on bridge mode. ...
No update at this stage. I'm in touch with our devices team periodically about it.

I think there are some of us advanced users who'd like to spend some time in a dark alley with your device team :-P
I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. If you use my Quic signup you can also use the code R570394EKGIZ8 for free setup.

They're very good people and brilliant geeks too - I think you would enjoy having a beer with them! Only problem is they can't talk about future stuff because of reasons. When NikT was part of the devices team he would sometimes tell me that I would love to know about the product he just saw but can't say anything because reasons. :/

You're probably right, damn you reasons! :-P

Currently on hold with support team asking about bridging mode. The guy said that there was an article on their KB (?) regarding enabling bridging mode for the TC 7210D.
I asked him to email it so I can run my own eyes over it and it appears to be legitimate, however I do not find it encouraging to see that the screenshots are from XP and the screenshot shows a reference to disabling Wireless N.... as this is a Wireless AC device that is concerning.
Unsure if I can share the document, I would imagine VF retain the rights to the document. I just wanted to share this with users on this thread with the proviso that this information may or may not be accurate.
He has also sent me the manual for this device which I will look through next. Still deciding if I want to go ahead with the switchover on March 1.
Thanks all,
Marcel
P.S. if anyone that has one of these devices can verify that the bridging mode option is available that would be great. This can be done by doing the following:
Login to router using gateway IP in Web Browser (typically something like http://192.168.0.1)
Under the Status Menu list, select "Switch Mode":
In the "Switch Mode" page, under "Switch Mode", select "Disable Mode",
*Do NOT hit apply*
Just need to check if the option is available or greyed out.
Thanks!
Marcel
Hi,
There doesn't seem to be anything like that on the Status page.
All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.
Lokhor thanks very much, I appreciate your assistance greatly.
VodafoneDylan or JohnR can I please ask if I am able to share the content of the document I was sent by a member of your support team? Also is it possible to get an official answer regarding whether a firmware update is imminent? Surely it's not a big thing to allow customers to change this setting on the device, thereby letting the customer have more flexibility and options with their network setups?
Would really like to know what's going on here as I have a tech booked for a weeks time which I will be cancelling if bridge mode is not possible - thereby easing the load on your onsite techs from Downers or whichever other company you may be using these days.
Many thanks,
Marcel
