I for one am impressed with the new plans and am currently working out how I can pay the upfront (wonder if HP is available). Much better effort Vodafone!
lugh: Hmm, a resounding silence. Is everyone stunned or has there been a stampede down to the nearest shop?

If Paul's around... will there be increased stock at the shops to handle any expected rise in sales ?
PaulBrislen: Most users aren't anywhere near that level of traffic usage... I've just looked at an iPhone here and there was half a gig of usage for the month...
most of the traffic is on wi-fi...

Changing plans from other iPhone contracts is possible, but customers will have to pay Vodafone extra for the handset. Moving from the 80GB plan to either iPhone 40 or 60 will cost an extra $100.

I use about 100 MB a month for e-mail and light browsing on a Pocket PC - no You Tube, no background upgdating applications, no RSS feeds and no Google Maps. I guess 250 MB could be ok for someone just getting a smartphone for the first time. But I wouldn't touch the iPhone with less than 500 GB to start the month...

Geektastic: Some improvement - but data still needs to be unlimited like US/UK etc.Personally, I would like the bones of the $80 plan but with zero included texts a month not 600 and 1Gb of data instead. I don't think grown-ups use texting very much (especially on a phone with proper email).

"grown-ups" - haha, I love it!
You'd be surprised. I think you'll find texting is a lot more widely spread in the "grown-up" generations than you realise. Many of my clients are in constant text contact with me and many business deals are often both discussed and agreed upon via text (in certain circumstances). Not to mention the convenience of being able to surreptitiously text out critical work requests while in meeting situations - there are many uses for texting and many in the 30's/40's/50's/60's etc age groups are using it.
I don't think we're really in an age where technology up-take is restricted to the gen X/Y's amongst us.
I'm on the $80 plan, have been since day one and find it is perfect for my needs. I'm saving money compared to my last plan with an i-mate. The quota's for each of the components appear to be just right for me
