IvanPiacun:

I notice there is a section for On Demand Rentals coming soon on the Vodafone TV Gen2 Box. Will this include Sky Box Office Sport, and will live Sky Box Office Sport ever be available?

Ivan Piacun CITPNZ

The only rentals I can see is movies coming soon.

Can’t see them providing better service then Apple TV, and beating pricing for older movies.

I watched some on demand Sky Stuff when on trial, but noticed if it wasn’t the three day catch up then DD5.1 was lost, same as Sky on Demand on Sky Box’s.

Hopefully the movie rental one is DD5.1 for people who don’t have Apple TV.

If at Broadcast quality I would be interested in season pass of TV series depending on price.

Yep. :)  Please note that any recordings you have made on the free Sky channels, will no longer be viewable after today.

The recordings are still there, they just say need to subscribe to watch. So if someone  resubscribes guessing they’ll be watchable again.

It would cost me around $45 to watch about 5 recorded movies. (Start up plus movies), though maybe worth while thing for someone else.

sm1ff: I have had to replace the batteries 2 times in the last 6 months due to the remote not responding... battery draining or something else?

Same here, I am on the third set of batteries, I've probably only watched 3 hrs of programs so the remote isn't being used much.

I found that the remote seemed to drop into IR only mode, the VTV box is shielded behind the TV so it became very flaky to use.

You can choose to rent from 7,393 movies on VTV using Google Play then watch on the YouTube app, and a further 321 using Lightbox (Lightbox have 774 movies for rent, but 453 are common with Google Play in NZ).  Google play movies do support DD5.1 but I haven't tested to check that it passes through on the VTV YouTube app.

Hi samsom and all

Long time since I posted.

I really enjoyed the free Sky Entertainment channels, but now they've ended I can't seem to subscribe to them on vtv.nz etc.

I log in, select the extra package, but the cost at the bottom of the page doesn't update, and the Checkout button at the bottom of the page doesn't enable, so I'm left not being able to do anything.

I've tried this on a range of devices and browsers, and none work.

I rang to talk to a Ninja, who barely seemed to know what the Vodafone TV 2 was, as he kept asking about my Vodafone broadband account number etc, which obviously I don't have, and then I eventually got put through to someone else who did seem to know about VTV 2, who also confirmed this issue ... but they said they would get to work to fix it, but that was a week ago and I still can't subscribe.

Samsom - Do you have any thoughts as to what might be going on here?

Another issue I didn't get when I first got VTV 2, but now get a lot in the last month or two (so probably firmware update based) is when I fire the VTV up in the morning it won't connect to my Google Wifi, so I have to power cycle (cut the power) to the unit before it will eventually connect.

Still love the VTV though!

Thanks for your help with these items!

Just tested this and price updated ok for me. Are you using an ad blocker, tracker blocker or script blocker? Perhaps whitelist the tv.vodafone.co.nz domain?

Hi @Tonsmi

Have you added a credit card and Pin to the account first and selected Sky Starter? That may be possible causes, or do you have an adblocker etc active.

@Sansom or his team may have other ideas.

I was going to suggest setting a fixed channel for the Google WiFi but I am not sure if that is possible on those devices as yet?

@Sansom or others on this thread may have other ideas.

Hi folk

Thanks for your prompt replies!

I'm not running any blockers specifically, but your ideas made me wonder if the website is using Flash, which Chrome blocks by default.

So, I enabled Flash, and capow, it works! Price now updated and Checkout button now enabled! Subscribed!

ivanpiacun - I don't think I can lock a channel on the GWifi. If anyone else has any ideas on this, please let me know.

Thanks so much for your help everyone!

Interesting as I don't have Flash enabled and it worked for me. Perhaps a script failed to load for you before.

Good it is done anyway.

I've come to the conclusion that I love the Vodafone TV approach with respect to Sky and freeview etc. but I do not need the other apps that come with it and really I do not need another box... My new tv with Android TV built is working well and does what I need but it doesn't have a single interface to manage Sky/Freeview in a simple manner.

Is anyone aware if Vodafone is considering produce an android app that has the bare bones of their service without the apps?  I'd honestly be willing to pay for an app as the cloud recording function is cool along with the ability to introduce Sky effectively through a single digital interface... I guess I just want to reduce the amount of STBs I have; I've already managed to reduce to the TV alone as I''m not using my Sky box or the nvidia shield...

They have a Vodafone TV for Gen1 box (available with a Vodafone Broadband account), App and are producing one for the Gen2 STB, hopefully in the near future. This is described at:

I saw this mentioned earlier but wasn't sure of the resolution, has anyone had an issue with NZ based stations on Iheartradio? Gen 1 box...

Good to hear the channel purchasing is working.

Just for the record, we don't use flash on the VTV portal, so it must have been some other issue (in your browser?) that was cleared. We haven't seen any other users with this issue.
